I have had occasion to visit Memphis many times, parts of the city are just fine, and you can enjoy some great food, and scenery.....but there are many sections that you DO NOT want to get into! I suggest not to drive in the city unless you are very familiar with it, easy to get lost, and end up in trouble.

I avoid Memphis now days, if I am traveling through, I take the by-passes! It is a shame, Memphis use to be, and maybe still is, a fun town if you know where you are going, and take care.

As I understand it, doesn't the HA quadruple on "Crapless" Craps vs. regular Craps?
    (5.4 or something??)
I'm sure you can still win, but...something to think about.
Maybe the math guys can weigh in.

You are right on the HA.....a little under 5.4% on a pass line bet, and placing the 3 or 11, carries a high HA, over 7%. There are several bets that are not too bad at all.....like buying the 2 or 12 with vig collected on wins only, about a 1% HA. But not my game of choice.

When Bob Stupak first introduced the game in Vegas, I thought it might not be a bad deal....getting the right odds on the "new" numbers, 2-3-11-12. If they offer 5X odds, you can get the overall bet HA down to about 1%. But the volatility of those high odds bets can be devastating, and quick. But, a little luck the other way, and you can make a bunch real quick also.

I've been thru Memphis twice. Eh. Even the area around Graceland is pretty crappy. Did eat at Corky's BBQ...which was excellent. Memphis is about knowing your whereabouts. Nashville isn't much better.

Crapless linebet expected value is the same as a field bet, both 2 and 12 paying double. So the smart player NEVER plays the line unless it is his turn to shoot. Then he buys, not places, the numbers he likes. With vig on a win, the extremes have better value than placing the six. The come better of course is nothing but an imbecile.

were very undecided, not like us.
while neither of us want to or care to fly, Im thinking, hey, if Memphis is 3 hours, why not just do 2.5 hours more and be in vegas?
my wife is thinking, hey, why not just go to philly or poconos?(she really hates flying)
I tried to convince my brother to meet us in Memphis, but when he heard casinos, he wants no part of it.
He wants me to go on a cruise with them....eh.

everytime I check, airfare goes up, so Im missing out on cheaper flights.

we push it back to February break, then talk about easter break, but we haven't taken any action.

Yes, that is a concern. Hoping for good weather and had airline vouchers to use before they expired. So we're rolling the dice- pun intended.

Vegas is always either too hot or too cold, it's in the desert! :)

youre not rolling the dice. so it will be 35 at night, and 50 during the day.
    so what.
put on a light jacket and youll still enjoy the stay, no outdoor pool though.

I always remember one time we were there in winter, it was 69 during the day, and I was sweating. At night, the temps went down below freezing and I got a horrible sore throat, couldn't wait to go home the next day.
    ended up with strep.
There is so much to do in vegas, if the pool isn't your thing, you probably wont let the weather stop you from doing anything.

Forgot to mention that roadhouse casino now has the pool tables near the entrance. Right next to the bar. Two 6ft coin operated tables. The tables are definitely not good for gambling, because of the "heavy" cue ball. The crapless tables (2) of them are always in action. I cringe every time I see someone go $94across on the regular numbers, & $25 on the extremes.

I would have said the same thing, but he was talking about crapless craps....over a 5% HA on the line and come bets.
