weve never been there, casinos seem close enough if I have rental car there shouldn't be a problem getting around. Figure fly into Memphis, short ride, rent a car and be there within an hour.
Can anyone here, who has experience down there, give me an honest review of the casinos and hotels, which are nicest, best food, can I go outside of casinos at night, is it safe, that sort of stuff, where should we eat, which casino should I make my home casino where I will get a room, I prefer top of the line for a room, a larger casino.
harrahs? not sure, how are the games, is there anything else like shops for the wife.

most important, how do they treat Yankees from ny.

We are thinking near end of year.during the week to avoidcrowds.

if you have experience in these casinos please post your thoughts on as much of them as you can, including food places and hotel rooms.

Been quite a few Novembers since I been to Tunica County. Look for cotton bales the size of 18 wheelers waiting to be picked up in the barren fields. The nicest casino, Harrah's, shut down some time ago. Where you want to stay and play is the convergence of Horseshoe, Gold Strike and Roadhouse. Easy walking distance between them. All got good rooms and plenty of food choices, good games and competant dealers. There are 5 other casinos, spread out within 5 miles or so. Real country, but Memphis is real close by.

I've stayed at the Gold Strike. I liked it.

Go with a company that transfers into other Markets. You struck out with MGM. Go with Ceasars or Boyd Gaming.

over a long lunch today, my wife told me shed much rather go to Memphis only because theres little airplane time and little driving time once we arrive at destination.(and we have never been down south in that area)
I prefer Nevada, but theres a good chance I will be there sometime early next year, so it looks like Memphis/tunica, the week of veterans day.
I don't like to post my exact dates, but around there.

Horseshoe accepts my total rewards card I believe, so Ill see if I can work out some comped rooms, if not, we will shop around the top few hotels there.(I don't think the rooms are more than 75 dollars anyway during the week)
I need to go to Memphis for some real bbq so I want to stay in Memphis at least 2 nights and eat bbq until I, well, you know.

I hope I meet a real DI shooter down there, Im trying every area, and Ill be with the wife, so as usual, if anyone wants to show me how its done, get in touch with me early November, and Id be glad to win money on your roll. And ofcourse, my standing offer, my treat to dinner.

oh boy, I was showing her the seating plan on the plane to Memphis, and she is refusing to go.
small plane, she wont do it.
Im working on it, Ill let it sit a week or so, I didn't realize its a almost a 3 hour flight.
    thought I was set.
tough when your SO doesn't like to fly, and there isn't enough Xanax to get her on that small plane, so she says.

Lots of regional jets to Southern cities that aren't hubs, but you need to get her past that.

Tunics is one of the best places in America to play. $5 tables everyday. 100x odds at horseshoe and gold strike next door. Prop bets pay at "to" not "for." Field pays 3x, etc.

There's always plenty of tables open. The only problem I've run into playing there is some of the street hustler types from Memphis coming down and trying to slip in late bets, change bets etc. Apparently it's a regular problem as the last time I was there the pit boss had to get involved and tell the player that he wouldn't review the tape, because this problem had happened with this player several times before. Whenever that happens I just move from the Gold Strike to the Horseshoe or vice versa. 3 minute walk.

The statehouse in GoldStrike is fantastic and some of the best eats you'll ever have, especially if you like BBQ, 30 minute up the road in Memphis.

Enjoy the trip. It's a great place to play. Oh, and if your are interested in dog races you can go over to West Memphis Arkansas and go see the hounds run. Nice little Racino there too. No live tables, but the organic bubble craps and the simulated table.

So, it looks like I'll be in Tunica next Wednesday August 5, and possibly in the 7th if anyone is around or interested in getting together at the Gold Strike or horseshoe.

If you enjoy "Crapless" Craps Tunica is The Place to be. They even Offer $3 Crapless at Roadhouse Casino. The Roadhouse Tables are "Sponge Like", but still Very Playable. If you ever get over to Roadhouse, ask for "Ryan". A super Nice Host that Takes care of the Players! $5 Tables are Plentiful in Tunica. Too Bad they closed down Harrah's!

I haven't cancelled anything, but waiting to book a flight might get more and more expensive.
    Its up to the wife.
We booked either AC or PA casinos for September,
Id love to visit tunica, getting her on a small jet is the problem, even with Xanax.

You can't find a large jet to Memphis??? I have never flown in anything else there. How about Little Rock or Birmingham and drive?

its up to her, but I don't think theres much direct service on larger jets from me to little rock either, and it doesn't make much sense to have to fly for 3 hours, then get in the car for 3 or so hours, not worth it for me.
maybe once in my life Id do the drive from vegas to reno, but when the wife retires and we no longer have to check in anywhere.
Im hoping Im around to enjoy those days.

I think it all turned her off to this idea already, she feels at this point wait a few more years until we can have unlimited time, can drive all over, no pressure.

Okay but, if still living on LI, you ain't driving to Tunica are you? Is driving to LGA or JFK out of the question? I'm sure there are bigger things than puddle jumpers that fly out of there!

neither of us want to go up and down twice on connecting flights.
the flights out of LG which is great for us, are smaller jets.
60-70 seats? She looked over the seating plan when I asked her if I booked , where shed like to sit, she said, not in that small plane.

I don't know what to tell her, nor do I want to discourage her from going, so Im just letting it sit for now. I have the room, getting a room somewhere in Memphis for Thursday night I don't think will be a real problem.
I might pay more for the flight, but I cant pull the trigger until she agrees.
We are going to philly together for some gaming in early sept, maybe after that trip she will agree to the jet ride.

not that it means much, I just read an article on the internet, so never sure if I can believe it or not, one of those 10 most dangerous cities, it ranked Memphis #2 behind Detroit.
Nice to know I was planning on taking the wife for a few days there also.
someone told me graceland is not in the nicest part of town.
    Elvis lived in the ghetto?
    ah too funny.

Drove past a few times. It was probably in the sticks when first built, then suburban blight followed it.
