and don't tell me it is all in my imagination...........shiiiiit
It's all in your imagination Man. What you are remmembering, is what it was like to be much younger. In another 60 years, there will be some guy your age, posting photos of this day and time, thinking they were the "good old days".
Light the corners of your mind
Misty water colored memories
Of the way you were
Of the smiles you left behind
Smiles you shared with many others
For the way you were.
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time re-written every line
If you had the chance to do it all again
Tell us would you, could you
Memories, may be beautiful and yet.......................
In the best voice, of Barbara Streisand......................
duck...you don't think life was simpler then...better then........you think it's better today then than........you laughed more...you had good feelings more........to me ...I wish those times would come back.........today everything seems to be ka-ka......everywhere you look....ka-ka.......I can't even watch a ballgame anymore...........
Memories are funny things. I grew up in Florida, and I remember getting our first air-conditioner. I remember closing all the windows and firing that noisy motherfucker up. It was a window unit that my ol' man had mounted in the wall. It felt like I had died and gone to heaven when that ol' frame house started cooling down.
I don't know exactly, but I must've been 8-9 years old, I reckon. The funny thing is, I have no memories of being hot and sweaty before then, but as anyone who's ever been in a house in Florida without A/C can attest, it's miserable.
We remember what we want to remember, by and large.
We are in a different place now...........and I don't know about you, but I don't like it........not at all......
Did you ever see that episode of the "Twilight Zone" Where a guy keeps falling asleep on the train on his way home. The train, in his dream, keeps stopping at a place called Willoughby. The seen outside is of a "Gay nineties" theme. He longs for the simplicity of days past, and so one day, he decides to get off at Willoughby. There is NO going back in time, live in the present, it's what we have. To be sure though, I know exactly what you are saying, and feeling. I'm not sure exactly WHEN it all went to "hell In a hand basket" it it sure seems like it did. Didn't Socrates say something about this, a long time ago?
Never saw that episode....and socrates said......" I drank WHAT !!!
Well, the guy steps off the train the next time it stops at Willoughby, and in the next seen, they're loading him into a hearse, and when they close the back door on the hearse, it says, Willoughby & Sons Funeral Home.
I guess there is a moral to that story......
Any time was better than what happened this past 15 months
Life was shitty
Nothing was open
We were stuck in neutral
Things will get better
Might take some time
Moral, I don't know, but another song comes to mind.
It's a long long road
From which there is no return
While we're on our way
To there, why not share
And the load
Doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
So on we go.
"The Hollies" about 1970
We have a Willoughby here just on the north side of the Harbour Bridge but they don't have a railway station. They must have used one nearby and dressed it up. Yes that must be it. I'm sure of it.
Things are screwed up, for sure. But we have been spoiled in our lifetime. Look at the history of man and today’s world ain’t all that bad. We don’t have to worry about food on the table, the love of our spouse and kids and our quality of life. We all have enough scratch in our pocket and modern day medicine will keep us living longer than ever before.
Count your blessings while you can count.
Thanks, Duck. Just watched that episode on Netflix.
I have never seen so much symbolism in a TV episode. Overbearing boss, bitch wife, Beautiful Dreamer playing in background when he arrives in Willoughby. I think that I will be binge watching Twilight Zone next week, after the US Open.
Carpe Diem, baby.
That's probably what happened.
great group and song
