Coordinated Jawboning from Central Banks, but “You Can’t Taper a Ponzi”

For the world’s financial markets which have become literally dependent on the pronouncements of central banks, this week is lining up to be one of the most important in a while.

Because this week no less than 4 of the world’s most powerful central banks are each meeting to discuss quantitative easing (QE) and interest rate decisions, after which they will ‘inform’ financial markets as to what extent the markets will be kept on life-support stimulus. QE here literally refers to central banks buying government bonds (debt) and other forms of debt and equity securities.

    Powell (US Fed head)
    MOPE
First up is the operator of the world’s most influential fiat currency, the US Federal Reserve, whose Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meets over two days between Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 December, and then tells markets whether it will taper its QE (i.e. decelerate it’s interventions). Simultaneously the Fed will engage in Management of Perception Economics (MOPE) about future interest rate hikes (hint: the Fed cannot significantly raise rates without torpedoing financial market asset bubbles).

The US Fed effective federal funds rate is currently 0.08% with a target rate of between 0.00% and 0.25%.

Good Post Setting.Fed has screwed us with this propping up this market with .buying bonds and junk paper. Now with inflation going crazy they better raise interest rates and forget about propping up the market- hey they used to always go down. If you wait too long then you can do very little. As Peter Schiff states if interest rates reach 5 % gov. goes bankrupt! Cannot pay interest in the debt. Fed is more problems than they are worth.

I hear there will be a 1% and 1.5% interest rate increase soon. I read it on my phone so I did'nt grab the article. I think I read it on Kitco site on Gold prices. Just another prediction.

It’s the only way to create wealth for yourself without actually working to do it. Other than the lottery. Or inheritance. Or trust fund.

All publicly traded stocks are corrupt to some degree. When I worked for a fortune 500 company you wouldn't believe some of the things they did to "make the quarter". Loading out product into trailers and letting it set in the parking lot because it was counted as "sold" when it left the warehouse, stretching 30 day net accounts out to the day before penalties started etc.

It's actually easier in most cases to make money on a corrupt company. You just have to be smart enough to cash out or short it before the sheep catch on.

Looking at the long term chart of PRU, I'd be cashing that one in and locking up my profits if I owned it.
