This is especially true at the beginning of regular season for the NFL. PreSeason games are now just an extension of training camp. Most teams don’t get their shit together till October or November, depending how stupid their coaches are. The line makers don’t seem to take this into account, which can create opportunities in early season games where the line makers totally blow it. They seem to put too much weight on teams previous season performance. By October and November, the wise guys start getting wise, and the opportunities are few. So look for line errors in September into October that you can get an advantage. But anyway you slice it, it’s still gambling.
Your implication here, is the exact opposite of what I'm talking about. In theory the line is supposed to bring the money down evenly on both teams. There are certain times though, when I can determine for a fact, that that is not what would happen. Unless you can find an extenuating circumstance, that may not be obvious, "take the road less traveled" it is not a "lock" but it wins more often than the "obvious" pick. Try it on paper, you just might like it. This is a very difficult move to make with serious money, it goes against all of your instincts, but, it is what you have to do sometimes. Be sure to "weigh" all of the variables though.

One game DOES mean "shit". If a guy has $100 in his pocket, bets it on the game and WINS, he now has almost $200 in his pocket, if he loses, like you did, he's broke. The difference between winning and losing, is nearly twice the amount bet.
