when I went out there forgot which year when I met random in des plaines.....I didnt stay at majestic becuase I looked at google maps and it seemed the walkway to the casno was a min of 1/4 mile.....so I chose ameristar for one night.....same deal, and you could see the majestic star boat off in the distance from outside ameristar....or at least I thought it was from the map.
I did not enjoy the low ceilings the riverboat offered.smoke filled impossible to breath.i doubt majestic was any better judging from the boat...as it looked very similar to ameristars boat

Back in the early 90s when riverboats first started coming online, it was arguably worth putting up with the inconveniences such as boarding times & 2 hour cruises, cramped spaces, and stagnant, smoke-filled air. Now there are casinos within easy driving distance of the vast majority of the country's population, so we're probably more selective.

You didn't miss much by not staying at Majestic Star. The hotel & casino facilities that are currently Ameristar have always been decent given the operating constraints; the facility happens to be located in a heavily industrialized/wasteland setting. In that regard, the 3 casinos in Northwest Indiana are unique. If a person is there for gambling, it's probably not that big a deal; however, if he/she wants to do something besides gambling (or railfanning, UrbEx), the options are extremely limited (okay, basically non-existent) in the immediate area. Drive to Chicago or Indiana Dunes.

This place looks just like the Q in Dubuque. The city bought it a couple years ago. They shut down the dog track which is why I went and the craps table is consistently the emptiest I have ever seen.
Heading down to Dubuque in a week or so. Will have to check up on it.

Send them up the Mississippi to the twin cities where they belong. You park one in St Paul area and one in Minneapolis area you could sell limited memberships.

Storti Marine Services -- Listing for the Majestic Star Casino riverboats (Majestic Star, Majestic Star II). Scroll down the page linked below and click on the images of the ships and get the details. Perhaps someone will start a GoFundMe page to try and raise the $6M (per vessel) ask.

I can see why you might make that comparison. The biggest difference (aside from land-based vs. riverboat) is the surrounding area. I've played craps a handful of times at Q and its name du jour predecessors. Nearby Diamond Jo Casino is decent.

    Certainly will be terrorizing Joe's.
Last time I played away my bank roll was in there one evening sticking to the dark side. Watched the table for a bit. It was real quiet. Trays were darn near empty I thought it was a sure bet going dark. I lost the next 5 rolls, $20 bucks each thinking it can possible not win the next roll. So then I put 5 on the pass line and seven out. Less then 15 minutes for all these outcomes. I put my tail between my legs and sauntered over to the bar for some courage.

it was your reco to go to Ameristar over majestic....I had one day to kill before heading to Hampton inn in desplaines next to rivers. wanted to see riverboat style place.
the hotel was decent.....ofcourse my room didn't have working AC and that got to be a real problem until they changed room,s but since someone let me check in at 11am or earlier, they were upset they had to move to to another room so early since I shouldn't have been there in the first place. other than that. limited food service, a few places,

These appear to be very LARGE boats. If they are currently on LAKE MICHIGAN, how would you propose they get them to the MIsSISSIPPI RIVER? Don't you think they might sustain at least some damage, going over NIAGARA FALLS? :D

It worked so well for Brockway, Ogdenville, & North Haverbrook. So why not Gary?

Yeah, the Welland canal might allow access to Ontario and then the Atlantic, but, I think the draft of ships this large, would prevent them from moving up the Mississippi River, beyond New Orleans.

What a mess. Back when the I35 bridge collapsed there was a monster crane on a barge brought up from down south. It was here for a while. May need it again on this. That aint just a crack. It's broke. Quick someone call Biden.
