Probably an unpopular thing to say, but.....

Some of this is coming soon. The party with all of the power wants this. Most of America wants this. Indy-type tragedies are happening weekly and nothing meaningful has happened to prevent more of this. Biden will act. I am not sure how he will do this. I don't know how far he can take 'Executive Action.' Rules of the game have changed. Those in power can do anything today and get away with it.

Republicans are perceived as the party of guns despite the overwhelming proportioned amount of violent crime being committed by Democratic black and brown people. Whites 'hold their own' in mass shootings it seems. We are a violent society.

    1) Ban all assault weapons
    2) Find a way to keep all guns out of the hands of criminals and crazies
    3) Universal background checks for all guns sold
    4) Mandatory jail time for any gun offense

I think that 1-2-3-4 are necessary. I also think that #1 will happen before #2-3-4.

One per week since the beginning of March. Indy has had THREE.

We're becoming numb to these. No longer the lead news story.

Not for me. My 9 mm is in the safe, unloaded. I bought it last summer, thinking that I'd like shooting as a hobby at a gun range 1 mile from home. It wasn't for me.

I have no interest in getting a CCW permit. Two major reasons are 1) I don't feel comfortable around guns. I wasn't raised around them. and 2) I live in a 97% white, middle-upper middle class area. Virtually no gun related crime.

Outstanding police presence here and most of the crime being shoplifting at the local Walmart as thieves come here from Akron which is 15 miles away. My community is known as a no-go zone for criminals from Akron or Cleveland. The usual DUI and weed cases but rarely any violent crime.

Maybe if I went back in time 150 years, I would feel different. You know, the Wild West era. If I lived back then, I'd probably be the guy running the general store in town.

I wouldn't have moved into a high crime area. We moved here because of safely and schools. True in my community in 1993, fortunately true in 2021. Still as white and as safe as it was 30 years ago. I prefer to live and associate with people who look and act like me. Call that racist and it probably is by today's standards but most people prefer living that way. It's been that way for the last 10,000 years.

I don't need a gun for protection which is a huge relief.

Article written in 2013 with data 10 years old.

My instinct tells me that the country is more violent and dangerous today than it was in 2010.

I grew up in Baltimore. My Son and his family live 30 miles NE from downtown. We go there 6x per year in non-Covid years. The world famous Inner Harbor was safe to visit in 2010. It is not safe today for anybody who looks like me. Same for Camden Yards depending on what team (and crowd size) are expected for an Orioles game. I went to 2-3 Orioles games per year because my brother owned 23.08% of the team until his 1997 divorce. Nice perk. Owners box. Great food. Free parking. Otherwise, I wouldn't be caught dead in downtown Baltimore.

I lived in Naperville IL from 1989-1993. A great suburb 30 miles west of Chicago. I had a District job and traveled the 20+ Sears stores in greater Chicago. One of the stores bordered the Englewood neighborhood, maybe the most dangerous neighborhood in south Chicago.
I probably was in that store 6x. There is NO WAY that I would travel in that neighborhood today.

Baltimore's population was 960,000 in 1960. It was #6 in the Nation. Metro population was 1.422 million in 1960. Baltimore's population was 590,000 in 2020; Metro 2.333 million.

Why did so many (white) families abandon the city? Safety, crime and schools. What's true in Baltimore is true in hundreds of other American cities.

I agree completely with your lawyer, media comment. Was it Dick the Butcher who said, "The first thing that we do is kill the lawyers?"

I realized that. You won't find any data for the 2016-2020 range since they don't want you to see how much gun violence went down.

Same with older historical data. Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but it seems to have been scrubbed. The chances of being a victim of gun violence today is 0 if you avoid the tribal regions and don't act like a total dick.

they never did make the news....last year the Bucks and the Brewers suspended games because
that guy got killed by cops in Kenosha.......did not give a shit about the 3 kids and a mother that got killed
in Milwaukee in Jan because some black guy got pissed that a snow ball was thrown at his car......

I had two friends that were cops that committed suicide......

So for me it is simple... if all lives dont matter. then none do !!!!!!
