while we arent going anywhere anytime soon, mainly now with the fucking covid issues.....and in a month we start babysitting our grandson again 4 days a week......we were given the opportunity to get a house within walking distance of the beach in st augustine florida.....for basically nothing for 5 days....next summer....if things work out like the owner wants.....there will be some minor work being done on the home...but nothing that would effect or is affect our time there...pool will be functinoing....etc......so my wife agreed we should go early.....go to biloxi for 3-4 days, longer if we choose.....then head over to florida.....we just have to wait for exact dates......but we discussed, even if house falls through, we go to biloxi anyway.....reallly dont see the need for vegas.....we will have the beach...the pool, the casinos, the bbq, and it wont be a long road trip . i can go anytime I want...but Id rather go with my wife.
Consider back roads, lose I-95! Take I-78 to Harrisburg. I-81 down to 40 t0 75 to 59 to 69 to 10 to Biloxi!
No, he was coming in the back way. Best route for Liman, 81 to 77 to 85 to 65 to 10 to Biloxi. He can take a little detour west on 40, if he wants to see some OPAQUE DICE.
I've taken both those routes over a hundred times (not an exaggeration) it's a wash between them. The company I worked for was based in Alabama and 95% of our southbound loads went there. The company routed us based on which route had the cheapest fuel.
85 is the worst part of it until you’re south Atlanta. Speaking of 85, there is a new casino going up at the NC SC border, a place called Kings Mt. The casino is being built by the Catawba Tribe of SC. The Cherokees tried hard to stop them. Imagine that, not wanting to share the bounty of the land, with their brother Indians. Seems mighty “Euro” of them. Judging by its location, about 35 miles west of Charlotte NC, the Cherokees, stand to lose about half their business, what a damned shame. I’ll bet this place will have a lot of “low-riders” at the craps tables.
my wife is already letting me know when we go, regardless of where our final destination is, that greenville south carolina is a must for a few hours. yeah, quilt store I promised Id get her to. and there are a few friends wed like to visit on our way down. plus my niece moved to nashville recently with her bigshot doctor fiance., so Id like to visit them. we discussed not packing and unpacking like every night..pain in ass and too tiring, but as we age we know we wont be doing this that much more. so we might make a few stops on the way down, no stops coming back up north, and only st augustine after biloxi if we get house, even if we dont, we will rent anyway. and if Im in greenville, I certainly want to go see the opaque dice.
You will “love” them Man, they are so damned opaque, it’s unbelievable. OK, the (“Opaque dice”) route is 81 to 26 to 40 to hwy19 to Cherokee, aka.(Opaque Dice City).
my niece is getting married in nashville next october,, we would love to make it a 3 week trip....go to biloxi, maybe tunica....and hit the quilt stores my wife wants in a couple of cities down south. lotta pros and cons....we have to work it all out. july ...all the time in the world...no obligations, take as long as we want. prices will be higher, and temps will be brutal oct-good temps, would only have as many days as we can secure child care for our grandson....hoping by then 2.5 school weeks should be ok....prices would be better, and then we attend wedding also.... or maybe just go in july, and make it a 7 day road trip in october....if mask mandates are not in force in aircraft, we might fly in october...even though we are both against it....but if masks are required, not flying...no fucking way Im sitting in airport for hours, then in plane for hours, with a mask on. we were so close to reno a few months ago....werent sure with wild fires....but I regret no going a bit further to reno for a few days.
beau rivage doesnt seem to book direct right now for next july. I went to expedia, all the rooms you want, at decent prices, starting at 138 per night, plus taxes and fees. the panaramic room we want only listed the regular pano room, at 182, but we want the suite so Ill wait till I can contact them direct for a price.
