Yesterday was not a day to be outside in Vegas!

That's right it damn sure wasn't a day to be playing craps I got a phone call from one of the guys that said he had a really bad session!
As for me, I haven't played craps in over two weeks being sick in bed.
As I tell all of the guys you do not want to be playing craps when we have a major weather change here in Vegas. Call it my own superstitions if you want to but I see more losing sessions when we have bad weather in Vegas!

My wife told me to look outside yesterday at the rainbow that she saw as the winds were blowing up to about 50 miles per hour here!

At the time I didn't know that 215 Beltway ways closed down!

I saw a weather alert for Las Vegas for a "Hard Freeze Warning" on my phone this morning. Who knew it was actually for the craps tables?!! According to that warning, morning lows in Las Vegas will be in the upper teens to lower 20s Sunday & Monday morning. I would have more sympathy for y'all out there in Sin City, except on Sunday in Chicago it's supposed to be near 0 with a -35 F wind chill here in Chicago. Should make for a very interesting Bears-Packers game at Soldier Field. Oh, and we get more snow and ice today.

But you guys are used to that kind of weather and it doesn't change overnight. I know how your weather can be nothing but brutal in the winter time having flown in for business way to many times in the winter. I don't see how you guys do it. But then again I have friends that come here in the winter and they are runing around in shorts and a tee shirt.

I couldn't live there every time we have a bad cold snap here I end up with bronchitis that can take me out of the picture for a week or two!

Bad weather in open air stadiums is a good reason to take the unders in football. Anything in the north and northeast. 80% of those games were under last week.

    @TDB -

I can only imagine the look on your wife's face when you told her you were making the drive to Carter, lol. As weird as it sounds, sometimes it's more "safe" driving when there are only a handful of vehicles on the road, but 10" of snow is quite a bit. Unfortunately, in Chicagoland there are always dumbasses who still weave in and out of traffic at unsafe speeds even when the roads are covered with snow/ice/slush. The snow/ice/slush makes road conditions bad, but IMO it's those idiot reckless drivers that often cause more problems.

Hope you did well at the tables after that tough drive.

True, lousy winter weather comes with the territory when living in Chicago. It's a given. Still, there are winter days when I question why I still live in the area. But I like the change of seasons. Also, I can stand cold weather better than really hot weather. I've been to Las Vegas and Phoenix in July & August and it can be brutally hot, "dry" heat or not.

When there is a big change in temperature from one day to the next -- which happens quite a bit here in the spring & fall -- I often get bronchitis, too. Short of moving to San Diego or Hawaii, I'll probably have to endure the best I can when the weather changes so dramatically in such a short period of time.

must be pretty intense in Nevada.
driving up 95 there were signs posted on the road stating, not I don't recall exactly what it said, but High Dust Area, or High wind area.
I mentioned it somewhere, at one point driving, we had to completely close the windows, the sand blasting against the car was amazing. Glad it wasn't my car.
Looks like fog approaching, but it was all sand.

And here I thought that you were going to stop in Vegas so I could take you out and show you a few things with the metal detectors. One of these days we will get together and I wouldn't mind showing you want I do on the tables!

Lucky for you that you didn't I don't want anybody to come down with what I have now!

I had to make the trip from point A to point B this time, no stops. I was hoping to get up there to meet with BTL like we did last year, but a doctors appointment got in the way.

I will probably get up to Vegas after the first of the year sometime. Would like to get some tips on metal detecting. I have been practicing with the Fisher, a nice detector, but I am still very much the novice. All my prospecting has been in the rivers of the Sierras.

Hope you get to feeling better soon, being sick is not where it's at!

Onautopilot, I spend a lot of time with my metal detector practicing what I do with it and reading everything I can get my hands on that will help get the best performance out of it. You will never get better at anything if you keep doing the same old thing you have to be willing to try new things! The same thing goes with craps if you go to the casinos once a year and never read anything about the game do you really expect to win when you are playing? Probably the worst thing that I hear from guys is I read one book and that is how I play or I took one class and nothing else matters!

I've bought a few metal detectors that just wouldn't do what the manufacturers said they would do and the factories took them back after spending months on the phone and sending them videos of the detectors in use. So they could see that it wasn't me it was their product!

I've also lost money on one detector because it wouldn't do what they said it would do, but it would find gold but not meteorites and it weighed 6 1/2 pounds! Try carrying it around all day out in the desert! The funny thing about it was that the main guy in Fla that I read everything that he writes about the beaches there told me that is the detector that he uses! Now if I was still living in Fla. I would have kept it to hunt the beaches there.

I did find stuff there that was two foot under the sand with it and it was water proof. The only problem with that is where I hunt for the gold coins you can't hunt in the water but if I was living there I could hunt for rings in the water where most of them are found with it down south of the gold coins where there is no problem hunting in the water!

We are still trying to buy a second home there but change it to the Ft Lauderdale area. There is no way that I would make my wife drive in the crazy traffic every time she wanted to see family there, where she would have to drive for hours trying to make an hour drive. The traffic is just way too bad and you could never depend on making a normal drive!

I wanted to be an hour north of that area but the last time we were driving up to see our real estate agent I looked at my wife at 10 in the morning I told her I loved her too much to make her drive in the southbound traffic any time she was driving south in the mornings.

I would make the two-hour drive when I wanted to hunt for the gold coins, which, by the way, isn't every day the condition have to be just right! We were looking around Jupiter Fla, but I wanted to live an hour north in Sebastian Fla. So we were splitting the difference when we came up with Jupiter!

SR- I hope you are on the mend. Yes the weather was frightful in many places including Vegas. Yesterday I had a flight out of Vegas early afternoon that was postponed and then cancelled because of high winds. The weather is bad in many places. Get healthy fast and take care.

Although I have done well on my last two trips, I think on this upcoming trip I would be better off shoveling snow for cash.

I had to shovel snow today before and after making a trip to the Big A.
Noone paid me, although I did get a nice backache in return for hard work.
