I'm a 34 year old married woman. Most of my friends don't understand my interest in playing craps and gambling in general. My spouse does not really either, though joins me every few months at a casino about an hour from our home. When we go, I can easily spend a few hours at a table (If things are going well. I'm generally a conservative wage maker. Rarely do I bet more than $20 on a given roll. typically I'm just making a pass bet w/ 2x odds or 6-12 on 6 & 8). I wish I had some buddies who would like to go, at least monthly. Maybe this has nothing to do with being a woman but I feel like I see guy buddies playing all of the time! Anyone else have a difficult time explaining their interest? Anyone else out there wish they had more of a local community to play with?
It's difficult to understand why for some people gambling holds no interest. I know women like to gamble and I see them at the table, although the majority are men. I'd love to be at a table with 15 women and me. ( then again, maybe not) The shooter that had the best hand ever recorded was a women. You gals have the touch. Good luck. 777
commaradie is nice at tables if they are people you know. some people view gambling like putting on a parachute and jumping out of an airplane. while it may hold interest for a thrill seeker, they think its nutso to jump out of an airplane. non gamblers find no thrill or enjoyment in gambling, they don't understand why people would enjoy throwing away hard earned money. theres no thrill for them. zero, nada. Its like watching grass grow, and lose money also.
It seems that the pass line is better for me. Firstly, I'm (often) able to slowly and steadily grow my bankroll and get a few 7/11 before the point is rolled. I'll sometime use that to fund my pass-line odds bet. Plus, I'm able to keep track of the math much more easily. That way I know I'm getting what I'm due. As a generally newish player, I find that to be one of the most challenging parts to manage. Secondly, also like them because they are physically closer to me. Easier for me to pulldown my odds if my gut starts to get that SO feeling. I know pulling a place bet (or any bet) down is easy after every roll. But there is something about doing it myself, vs. announcing to the table that I'm loosing faith with the shooter. I haven't played around with the don't pass bet, yet. That may be my next adventure.
Kokomo, that is one of the things that i'm still fighting. Should i go with passline with odds ONLY, or naked passline bet(when i'm the shooter), & place the 6/8? Math says stick with passline bet with as much odds as you can afford. Math also says 6/8 rolls more than any other box numbers. I like ALWAYS having the 6/8 placed REGARDLESS of what the point is, but having 2-3 numbers working versus only one number is always a tough decision for me. The 4/10 only pays $27 on a $15 bet at my local Casino, & the Vig on a $20 buy bet is payed up front, so NOT a good bet for me. Yeah, the Doey Dont kills your chances of a Come out winner, but I've also CONSIDERED a Doey Dont(As the shooter) & placing the 6/8, only! Yipee Yah, so many choices in the game of craps, & they all have negative Expectations! Lol. Now........ If i could only influence the dice it would be......... Aw, just forget it. Lol
With the Vig paid up front, the outside doesn't look too good to me. But if they are showing, it just doesn't matter. 2:1 is a nice collection. The way you used to routinely get all across, even 3 bets is conservative for you. I know that you know how to disappear with a win when you catch one, so you have the most important thing under control.
Oxford Casino in Oxford Maine. Min $5 Max $1000. Good learning zone. Though I've played as some other tables.
double odds? 3-4-5? 10x? We have 10x odds available in PA, and they are as high as 100x at locations in Ohio, Louisiana and Nevada. If you're up a couple hundred bucks and feel lucky, it would be nice to hit a 5/500 winner to collect somewhere bewteen $605-1005 on one roll of the dice.
5x. helps me to keep it my wagers conservative in my formative stage But, goodness, I sure would love the scenario you've outline!
First, let me say I love seeing young woman at the game it just makes a great game better But I'm going to quote an old friend of mine just for a laugh. This is going back to 1982 when I first dealt the game and Al was about 70 yrs old. "There's nothing worse than a woman who knows the game" -Al the shill It wasn't to long ago that any woman other than a waitress was considered bad luck at a craps table. Woman dealt BJ and the Wheel.....Men dealt dice. I know its strange but true. I think the best advice for a new player would be another Al the shill quote. "You're up 100 bucks? Get outta here and go buy yourself a new shirt"
I see that Al is the romantic type. The dumb ass should have been enticing a woman to go buy a skirt.
Oh, if I'm up $100,I'll be: -pocketing $50 and my original bankroll -ordering a single malt (only 6-8 bucks at my home casino) -reinvesting the remaining $40 in my (conservative) game to, hopefully, keep it growing. That's the sort of "lady" I am
It's always interesting to see women at the tables that actually know how to play the game. It's more interesting when they are playing solo. To me, that means they are serious players. Too often I see a woman at the table with her spouse and the buffoon is yelling at her, telling her how she should play. I always like women dealers. Most don't take shit from anyone and are much more competent than men when it comes to math and payoffs. It doesn't hurt that some are attractive too. Therein lies the rub. The general consensus among the public is that if you go to gamble every now and then, you're willing to lose, and you go to just have "fun" -- there's no harm in it. Don't just make a habit of it. Those of us who gamble to win are almost immediately criticized and judged as degenerates. "Who wants to lose their money?", "Why are you gambling? The house always wins", etc. When friends and acquaintances see you traveling to gambling centers (e.g. Las Vegas) every week or month, they will call you out on your so-called "vice". I've stopped explaining my interest except to a few friends and family. I am passionate about the game of craps and I strive to be a better player. Whether that's through money management, strategic betting, or discipline. Sure it'd be nice to have an entourage to play craps with, but you won't be able to convince many that your gambling exploits are worthwhile. Most are too lazy to learn the game, are defeatist by nature, and see no benefit to playing. Like most things, people don't want to put forth the effort to learn to win, which makes it easy for them to dismiss the game as foolish and say that there are better things to devote your time to. Many still see gambling and the opportunity costs of it impacting society. Why are you gambling $500 ? That $500 could go to help someone in a homeless shelter, neuter feral cats, or save some kid who has leukemia. All altruistic. Gambling by its nature is a selfish proposition.
If you play with new aquintences ( male or female) do you play your normal game ( as when you are alone).....or do you play different, for whatever reason. 777
I have plenty of female friends who frequent casinos. I think it's less a question of gender and more a question of the crowd you know. Or rather, I know there are less female gamblers out there. But those who are provide inspiration to the rest of us so thanks for sharing your experience
I admire your attitude and method of play, very conservative and disciplined. Do you enjoy being the shooter, and any specific mannerisms when shooting? And in my opinion, more women should be playing the table games, and less time feeding the slots.....but then the casino would not be thrilled with that.
