    Another new guy here.

Just as the title says; when precison shooting; where do you aim? An imaginary point on the layout or more specific; IE where the come box and field lines meet... ?

How far off the back wall?

Tables are different from one another but what's a good place to start?

There is no correct answer to this.
The place to start is at your practice table/rig.

I like to aim for about 6 inches away for where the table stops curving and about 3 inches from the actual wall. I've noticed at the tables at my local casino, it is possible to get the dice to stay in a fairly small landing area without having the scatter to fair. Those throws yield the best results.

I did notice the last time I was playing that the area about 9 inches from where the table stops curving isn't flat. There is an indentation on both sides of the table.

Just my opinion, but rather than worry about where you hit right off, work on the dice following a straight line along whatever is easiest for you to line up with (I use the field numbers on the side I'm shooting to). Concentrate on a straight toss and let your peripheral vision worry about the distance to start off.

You may not like this answer, but you aim at a spot were you are making points. What works for you at home may not work in a casino. Every shooter is different, and the same goes for the table then you compound it by saying that the dice are different too!

You didn't even say what kind of shot you are using, and it really does matter. What does matter is once you find a spot on the table where you shot is making points, you land your shot right back in the same spot again and again.

No one can tell you without seeing you shoot where to land your dice!!!!!!

Find the spot that works best for you.

It is different every time even at the same casino, same table. I usually bet the PL & DP, throw $1 on the 12, then just practice my toss. I won't bet on myself until I can toss a few inside numbers.
