When there are 36 equally likely outcomes showing eleven possible numbers, there is more variability as opposed to flipping a coin. This is the reason WHY results can show such incredible variation with the dice. Those people who insist "it is all random" are NOT stating that exceptional results are impossible. All they are saying is that "anything can and does happen" while adding that "no one has good results a majority of the time" (or if they do, they are a rarity). When the word skill is brought up in a discussion concerning shooting dice, this seems to go too far. There are plenty of skilled people making a nice living doing any number of things. Playing craps for a living is not one of these things.
That guy's opinion, is just one more opinion, he never explained why the top set was more likely. If it is, then there must be some logical reason, and he didn't give one. What really constitutes evidence? In experimentation, there is a tendency for the experiment, to favor any preconceived notion of the experimenter. It's not intentional, it's more subconscious. One generally has a theory, when one designs an experiment.
My nickname is Lucky. When a random event occurs and it favors you, you have been 'lucky'. Some don't call it luck, they call it fate. I prefer luck. Events that can be influenced or 'determined' do not entail luck. Although some folks often invoke the phrase 'I was lucky'. This is sometimes because of modesty. Do you know what modesty is?
For those who might be interested , allow me to explain why I am so interested in finding out why so many people place so much stock in a myth / something non existent / superstition Many years ago as a 10 year old kid I discovered golf , started hacking around with it , playing and practicing , the golf professional came out to the practice range one day and asked me what I was doing I told him "I was practicing" he said , "practicing what" I said I am hitting balls , he said my question was 'Practicing what, you don't know anything , you can't practice anything you don't know how to do" That made sense so I asked for and got a job at the golf course receiving some pay and golf lessons , because Ivy Martin had been a touring professional , he soon had me hitting the ball quite well . I would learn and I would practice Old Ivy was a troll , he would ask me a question and of course to get the answer required another lesson , so after about 4 years of this Ivy gave me some money $100 I believe it was and had me go play a tournament After 3 or 4 years of playing tournaments here came one of Ivy's questions "How many tournaments have you placed in" None yet , I told him , he asked me why , I told him I just haven't been lucky enough to win one yet He smiled and asked me , "Do you have any questions for me"? I told him , no , He said , "are you sure" One day Ivy asked me , "How are you hitting the ball"? I said fine , he said , "let's take a look" we went to the practice range I hit balls , Ivy smiled and said , "great , you hitting the ball great , your working well both directions , it looks really good" I got really pissed off , I threw my club down and shouted "If it's so , "F^&*G" good why am I not winning anything" "Questions , Jimmy boy questions , how many times have I asked you do you have any questions" I asked him the one question he wanted I asked him "WILL YOU TEACH ME TO WIN"? He did People don't win because of "LUCK" , they win because they make it happen They lose because they don't deserve to win , they don't win because they , "DON'T DO THE WORK THEY DON'T MAKE IT HAPPEN" The old statement , "THE MORE I LEARN , THE MORE I PRACTICE THE LUCKIER I GET" is one to live by I can't even imagine standing around a table doing nothing and just waiting for something to happen That could get mighty expensive HUH?
Damn right I do , I see it all the time , hell I see modesty at the craps table all the time People lose their @$$ and say nah I didn't do any good , just wasn't lucky and some other guy cleans up on his roll , no luck there , The winner played the right game the loser played the "WRONG GAME" I prefer confidence , I participated in 4 sports professionally I knew exactly what my skill level was in each , I knew my strengths and my weaknesses I always played to my strengths and avoided my weakness , I learned what I had to do to win. People who are the most modest deserve to be but your problem may be , you don't know what modesty really is , not knowing how to win is not modesty Not being able to take credit when you had a good roll and you won is not modesty We call that FALSE MODESTY When somebody asks did you win? and you say "yeah I was lucky that's misleading When somebody asks me , "Did you win" ? Yeah I had 26 rolls and hit the 5 point fire bet that isn't arrogant , it's simply the truth Where many of you think people can't do anything to win , I know that a person can learn to do anything that the human mind and body are capable of but some of you guys are victims of the times , times where the schools are teaching "SELF LOATHING" and teaching that nobody is any smarter than anybody else It's the era of "PARTICIPATION TROPHIES" It's the era where no one should feel left behind feel less capable , so I don't blame you , "CONDESCENDING"? , no , "FACTUAL"? , yes , DO YOU AGREE? NO "YOU DON'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME , I CAN'T FORCE YOU TO BE RIGHT" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SYDNEY one of the masters at craps<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
You should read the last one you will get a kick out of it and it will not damage your "MODESTY" I promise
You and all your characters, Sammy, and Myron and Packer always defeating your fears and your foes. Always ready with a parable for the peasants.
I would have to show you , it's a thing Parker and I used to do in school we would get kids to match quarters for lunch money , then he and I would split the winnings When we got to high school the principal made us stop Some of the guys would go without lunch for weeks on end some of them laugh about it now at reunions We had a pretty sure way of winning and won a large majority of the time but the ways have to do with the rate of spin and how high you toss it We preferred quarters , we had more control
Parable good word and very accurate , I think however you went a little far with your peasants comment and I think would indicate that you might have a hint of prejudice toward those less healed than yourself , financially Perhaps unintended or maybe sarcasm
