The Doctor: "People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff."

So in short, what basicstrategy777 said

An update to an Abbot and Costello routine comes to mind. Would start out with, "Whosian first?"

Well, spent a couple hours at the casino, crowded, as I expected it would be. Couldn't get to the craps table, and all my VP progressive machines were full. Had a late free lunch. There was a seat at the video / card roulette thing, so I put $40 in and fooled around with that for awhile....boring!

I finally found an empty VP machine, and donated a little, and decided to leave all the fun to masses there. Just do not like the holiday crowds. I'll put a couple more "stars" beside my note to stay away from the casinos on those kind of days. :)

OAP......I know there have been times when you were tossing the dice and felt invincible. You were bullit-proof and you KNEW it. You could not lose and everything was going your way. Because you are an old man, I know you have experienced this.

This other worldly stuff is what I have been trying to say exists and has been experienced. I am trying to say......like the movie " Let it Ride"...it's just your day.

These things cannot be explained and are outside the relm of the math. The math plays second fiddle when these times occur.

Just because you cannot prove something does not mean it doesn't exist.

We must recognize these times, we must act on these times.
This is the Art side of the game. The 6/8 guy gets killed here i.e. the math guy.

The brain is a mysterious, and fantastic, couple of pounds of wet, warm tissue.....it finds patterns in random because it "needs" to. Then it senses that it is in the "zone", and then convinces its self of the validity of the happening.

It talks to its self in the first person, the second person, and even the third person....me, myself, and I, and the little voice in my head. :)

This is how I usually play:

$1000 buyin generally...if I'm watching my money I do $500 and halve my odds.

I like to make a min ($5 down here in Shreveport) PL bet then naked come bets the same 'til I have 4 bets up, then put $30 in odds behind each of them at the same time.

Immediate 7 out after getting 4 points of course hurts ($140 gone). After I hit once I have ~ half my risk back, 2 hits I'm barely up, 3 hits up a good amount and then start putting new come bets up equal to how many points I've hit and will still make decent profit on a 7 out...immediately putting $30 odds behind new come bets now.

After the seventh hit and each after going off and on I'll usually throw another $5 in odds on every point til it sevens out, or just let 'em start coming down if it's been a good enough roll that I want to take my money and run (I've had each odds up to $75 on each before...once :p)

This is of course the 4 barrel shotgun some of you probably know about, though I've never seen anyone else do this live...only thing I do a bit different is if I have three naked points and I've past the 5 count then hit one of my naked come bets, I'll load up the three points with odds, and just go off and on if I hit one of my points or put odds on the fourth point if I miss...reason being I felt like always waiting deep into a roll for that fourth point by continuously hitting your naked numbers gets boring.

Mathematically it is probably slightly better to just immediately put those odds up as the come bets go up, but I find PSO to be the most unfun part of the game personally, and feel like I'm "surviving" past those bad rolls this way, getting into the sweet meat rolls...hopefully. Not that I haven't loaded up 4 points and 7 out the next roll...I have many many times, but for some reason find this more tolerable.

Playing this way nearly guarantees you will be working the 5 count before you put up your big money by the way, plus you get some small action in the meantime throwing up the naked PL and come bets instead of sitting back and watching bored til the 5 count happens...the 5 count if nothing else really helps you stay at the table longer for no other reason than you're just not betting as often, or in this case as much as often. It makes me feel like I can survive til that hot shooter shows up.

Again, mathematically it is probably better to just put the odds up immediately, but this way lowers early risk (mainly for me it makes me not care about PSO which are mood killers to me, this way makes them a push) and is essentially a snowball effect of excitement after you get the 4 points up with odds waiting to see what happens (HEARTBREAK when the next hit is a 7 though!). Also it hurts to see someone running the three point molly hit their numbers over and over in the first few rolls while you hit naked come bets over and over (still $5 won) but every strategy has the good and the bad with it.

Anyway that's the way I like to play down here in Louisiana (was in Lake Charles recently moved to Shreveport) that I've found to be pretty fun. Also fringe benefit, it really gets people and dealers rooting for your action when you get that 6 point cash register working when many people are sticking to a single PL bet or 6/8 place bets.

Back to a more sensible discussion (I hope). Moving away from the dice bias and dice influencing debacle, I mean threads. I didn't really want to start another thread for my little ol' post so settled here.

Okay, I've just about decided on the approach I'm going to use on our next trip to Vegas in early April. I have been doing a lot of simulations to get a feel for how certain approaches work that have been suggested by some here. I really like two that I've played around with but definitely have to adjust for the bankroll I will be playing with. Admittedly it is a small bankroll but negotiations with the wife at this point and time are at a standstill!

I like having a come bet equal to the entire amount of the bet on the table but my bankroll comes in to play as a limitation to this system. Furthermore, I like the conservative approach of a $5 pass line bet along with taking the odds. I also like placing the 6 and 8 sooo without further ado, here is what I'm thinking.

    $100 bankroll
$5 pass line bet until I'm up $20, then cover odds for $5 on the 6 and/or 8 only. Once I'm up $40 dollars $5 pass line bet and take odds on point 1x unless point is 6 or 8 take 3x odds. Then once I'm up $60 keep pass line and odds the same and place the 6 and 8 unless one is the point.

Once I'm up $100...pass line bet of $5 1x odds no matter what the point is. 1st come bet to cover total amount I've bet on the table. 2nd come bet to cover total amount of bet on the table. Cover my eyes and let it ride until 7 out. If the larger of the two come bets wins I will replace the total amount I have bet on the table on the come. If the smaller of the two come bets win I let it ride until 7 out.

Once I'm $500 up color up sprint out of the casino so I don't have second thoughts, go grab the wife, son, and his girlfriend (thought I better clarify that) get some dinner and relax for the day. Come back the next day to hit it again.

What say you wise sages of the felt?

As good as any as long as you are comfortable. The only issue is you are trying to get 5x bankroll. What if you get to $400 and things start to go south? You keep going until $500 or zero?
