I have several favorite albums, each of which applies to a college summer beach road trip to Ocean City with more than one girl of my dreams.

Lori was my Springsteen Born to Run girl, Anna my Stones Some Girls girl, and Sherry my Dr. Hook Little bit more lady.

    Bringing back some s w e e t dreams. TY 777!

ps - I still love my wife.

After a bit of a hiatus, my picks for Sunday, October 27, 2019:

Sheep -- Pink Floyd. From the album Animals, which is not one of the group's better efforts IMHO, but this song is amazing. Especially the last few minutes. Gilmour, Waters, Mason & Wright...if only y'all could have worked things out.

Wagon Wheel -- Darius Rucker. Former Hootie & the Blowfish frontman covering a song co-written by Bob Dylan (chorus) / and Ketch Secor, who (decades later) provided the verses to finally finish the song. In 2004, Secor's group Old Medicine Show released the completed song.

Word Crimes -- Weird Al Yankovic. One of his best parodies, this one makes fun of Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke, which hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2013. The parody peaked at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) in August 2014, but at least Yankovic didn't have to pay damages to Marvin Gaye's estate for plagiarism, which Thicke had to do.

Georgy Girl (live) -- The Seekers. For those of you who still play vinyl on your turntables, you might have this 45 in your collection. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) in February 1967.

My picks for Monday, October 28, 2019: Instrumentals, Part II

Apache -- The Shadows. I could not remember the name of this song or the artist in music trivia while on the cruise around New Zealand. Hey, it's before my time. Fortunately, someone way older than me knew the title (but not the artist).

Theme from TV series Peter Gunn -- Henry Mancini

    Classical Gas -- Mason Williams

    Take Five -- Dave Brubeck

I may have posted this one already, but I'm too lazy to go back and look. Worth another listen, regardless. Love this, just love it.

On the advice of a three-year-old daughter of a gym acquaintance my wife wants me to rent the movie "Coco" from Netflix. I'd never heard of it but did a little research and found the following on Youtube. I ordered it and immediately moved it to the top of my queue.
I'm thinking I might have found a theme song for Barney.

My picks for Saturday, January 11, 2020:

Mambo No. 5 (A little bit of...) -- Lou Bega. The German's cover of a song by Cuban musician Dámaso Pérez Prado reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) in November 1999.

Should I Stay or Should I Go -- The Clash. Peaked at #45 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) in September 1982, but remains a favorite decades later.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl -- Jet. The Melbourne, Australia band hit #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) in 2004. Some controversy over the song sounding a bit like Iggy Pop's Lust for Life, although the band claims the song "borrowed" primarily from Motown acts.

How Bizarre -- OMC. This song is somewhat of an oddity. The New Zealand group released the song in late 1995. It went to #1 in several countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Canada. However, it didn't even land on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) because it was a radio only release (e.g., no commercial single), so per the rules back then, it was ineligible. Even without a commercial single, it managed to top the Billboard Pop Singles (US Top 40). How bizarre, indeed.
