I pulled a 1982 Michel McDonald LP out of the box. it's pristine. "I Keep Forgetting" second song. Didn't look. Nice surprise.

Jeez where do I start some great tunes guys, I'm not into shredders not that there's anything wrong with that, so give me slow hand guitar, sax rat a tat tat drum harmonica, and of course piano and banjo a flute don't hurt and the right vocal. Vintage vinyl has been trending for the last few years my nephew got his turn table up and going Setting you and him with the Vinyl you guys have should open a store :) Roller I think you are my lost twin when it comes to your taste in music thank God for one hit wonders I love them.....the 50s, 60sand 70s will be hard to get out of and we haven't even hit the blues yet... great thread I guess I will touch on the blues a little this cover is so good but then he made a good living from making covers golden his blues and Gospel I really enjoy

My turntable has been stored in its original packaging for 15+ years. I doubt it will see the light of day anytime soon, as I only have a few albums and 45s remaining. Also, I have yet to hook up the receiver & speakers since we last moved years ago. Too much work for limited return. At this point, a computer / smartphone, FLAC files / high bit rate MP3s and decent headphones have replaced my stereo.

The only musician I could find with a similar name is Dave Valentin (no 'e' at the end), who -- per Wikipedia -- is a Grammy Award winning Latin Jazz flautist. Is he the individual you are referring to?

As for Oasis, no group should ever compare themselves with -- and diss -- The Beatles. By doing so, frontman Liam Gallagher set the band up for deserved ridicule and inevitable failure (in comparison).

A few timeless instrumentals used in movies and TV shows, including covers by the late Glen Campbell (RIP).

Theme from Hawaii Five-0 -- The Ventures

William Tell Overture (Theme from The Lone Ranger) -- Performed by Glen Campbell backed by a full orchestra.

Finale (William Tell Overture) -- Hans Zimmer. If you haven't seen the final train chase from The Lone Ranger (starring Johnny Depp), find it on YouTube. It is definitely worth checking out.

    Dueling Banjos
(from Deliverance) -- Eric Weissberg & Steve Mandel. Read the following comment and laughed my ass off: "Paddle faster, I hear banjos."

Dueling Banjos -- Performed by Glen Campbell & Carl Jackson. Not the version from Deliverance, but this one hints at the amazing talent Campbell possessed and why he was also in demand as a session musician.

If you have a lot of albums, it probably makes sense to set up the receiver (or tuner/amp), turntable & speakers. Especially if the recordings aren't readily available on CD or via digital download. Perhaps you can record the albums to your computer so you have the content saved before the inevitable scratch/warp.

    Naw you don't get it.
Its THE turntable analog groove tracking sound that is lost in digital recordings. Pops, clicks and all. Spinning vinyl is so much more fun then digital convenience and it sounds better.
I am running into a Gemini DJ mixer i picked up on Ebay which allows my satellite dish for watching TV. A Tuner AmFm, a CD player I just bought new. They are much better today and now the Turntable. Pushing this into mu ol Phase Linear Amplifier thru a Techniques electric EQ.
Listening to a couple Bookshelf speakers Boston Acoustics. Good input and good output.
The turntable is a Ol 1975 Dual 601 with a ol Shur v15III.
I get into a couple other sites

    Au contrar...

I've owned a few decent pieces of stereo equipment over the years. The better stuff is long gone, as I gave up my "audiophile" (wannabe) ways years ago. Personally, I despise the crackle, hissing and skipping that is all too familiar with records, but to each their own. Besides, if there was a way to scratch a record, I've probably done it. Give me something more durable and easier to use. As such, I was an early adopter of audio CD technology back in the early 80s. Heck, I still have my second multi-disc CD player (Sony ES) I bought in the early 90s, even though it hasn't been used in 15+ years.

LMAO, I would never have figured you to be a fan of Barry Manilow. But, hey, sounds like you're having a good time listening to a variety of music on old vinyl. Enjoy!
