Anyone heard from The Midnight Skulker lately?

A quick search indicates his last post was a week ago (11/2/19). Hopefully everything's okay.

Still here; just didn't have anything to say. Couldn't get back to sleep this morning, and with the house empty -- wife is off to a dog trial with both of our dogs -- I decided to brew up some java and do some internetting. An empty house means I can catch the missed Z's any time. (Were I not so impecunious at the moment I would have sneaked down to Jackpot.) Couldn't resist bursting Garrison's bubble.

Ah, good to see. I thought you might still be rueing BYU's unexpected victory over Boise State earlier this season. The Broncos might have been able to crash the CFP had they remained undefeated. Maybe.

The loss to BYU was certainly a disappointment. I didn't get to see the game because my dog club was putting on a trial that weekend. I did check out the game summary, however, and was surprised to see that the defense gave up three TDs on big plays in the third quarter, which turned out to be the difference. Typically BSU is a second half team, excelling on defense, so my guess is the defensive coordinator got out-guessed by the Cougars' offensive coordinator, as in "He'll make these adjustments, so we'll make some countering adjustments."

Getting into the playoffs is a pretty tall order for a mid-major school, but a major bowl bid would probably have been all but a lock had the Broncos run the table. Now, particularly with Florida State probably going 6-6 -- beating Alabama State, whom I've never heard of, next week and getting wiped by the Gators the week after -- another loss could put them playing mid-December.

 FYI, the state of Alabama is located in the south east, along the gulf coast. It's capital is Montgomery, it's nickname is "Heart of Dixie". It was once, one of the "Confederate states of America". It has been a state much longer than Idaho, and by the way, produces better potatos, too. You should have heard of it, before now!
