I won $1000 for a $1 Fire Bet tonight at Hollywood/Toledo - first time I've seen 6 rolled, let alone have the bet booked. Because it was more than 300x the bet (and more than $600 winning), it was considered a jackpot and they had to issue a W-2G and withhold state/local taxes (and pay me at the cage).

I played yesterday and the table went cold and everybody left and I threw a 5 point fire bet and had me and the dealers on it, then some people showed up and 2 turns later threw another 5 point Firebet and had me and the dealers on it for 2 that time. Went to eat and came back trying to hit another Firebet and only had 3 numbers a few time. I started playing craps in February since I got bored with blackjack and overall have hit 4 5 pointers and 7 4 pointers. I started out never playing it but the first 4 point I threw I wasn't on it and since then I always bet myself and a few guys that I have seen throw one. I have only been on 1 Firebet when it hit that someone else was throwing the dice. The dealers were rooting for me every time I threw the dice since I put them on it all the time

i see that most of your questions and the general idea of the bet have been answered on this thread...but recently i have had the chance to visit many different casinos in many different places (ia, mo, ks, ms, wi, nm, vegas, reno) and the actual payouts vary quite widely...in places in nm payouts start a 3#s hit (6:1 iirc) but did not see this anywhere else (always 4#s elsewhere)...the 6# payout there in nm was what i thought to be an incredibly horseshit 249:1..in terms of HA nothing on the layouts even comes close to how bad the fire bet is...i have heard it said that the vig ranges anywhere from 26% to 60% ! obviously those making this bet are not concerned with HA, but they are concerned with the Big Payout...i have suggested elsewhere that a better bet, exposing you to an almost geometrically lower vig, which has a Big Payout better than the fire bet and that you would win more often than the fire bet would be to parlay just once a hopping 12 or 2 or any hardway...a $5 bet gets you $4500 (which of course might exceed your table's prop bet limit in which case you would adjust your initial bet accordingly)...some $5 fire bets pay out substantially less than that, even with a 6# hit...of course the tough craps player would make neither of these bets (except maybe for the crew) but...you know...just sayin'...tom "home runs are often boring" p

Yeah, I saw a listing of the alternate payouts when looking at some responses a while back.

At least with the 1000:1, there is the (remote) possibility of a big win.

Who the hell would spend money on the 6:1 for three numbers to 250:1 for six? Dreamers don't dream this small! Smart clientele would stay off such setups until the house got rid of them.

3 numbers pay 7 to 1 then 30 to 1 then 150 to 1 then 300 to 1. The place I have seen this you can actually bet up to 50 on the fire bet. I hit 5 numbers last week on it.

I have to say I love the firebet. I really only make that bet when I am the shooter but some people I will bet a dollar on it. I have quite a number of them although never have made the 6 numbers. Have had the 6 pointed a number of times and I have never did a lay on the 6th number I think I just have been too focused on the 6th number I just don't think about it. Where I play mostly you don't have to have a pass line bet to place a fire I think most places you do though. I do like the ATS don't play on tables much that feature that.
