Over the years of playing craps, all of us have probably witnessed some crazy things happening on the craps tables, some of it good and some not so good. Hopefully we're able to take advantage of those great rolls when they happen. When I see someone have a decent roll, I'll give him/her the benefit of the doubt the next time he/she is shooting and bet more aggressively from the start. Doesn't always work out, but from what I have observed it seems to more often than not, at least for that session.

I think that Saban will find a way into Clemson's freshman QB's head with a variety of defensive schemes, causing him to give the ball up enough for the Tide to win.

Don't bet your bankroll on it. :)

While I have much respect for what Nick Saban has accomplished on the football field, I wasn't impressed by how Alabama's offense tried to attack Auburn's defense. I also think Clemson's D is better than Auburn's. Clemson is trying to become the first team to successfully defend its CFP title, which should be plenty of motivation. Should be a great game.

Meanwhile, if I may get back to Speedy while admitting I am too lazy to page back so I might quote any relevant posts ...
    1. Put vs. Place is a valid comparison since both bets bypass a comeout roll. Random_roller covered this quite well. All I have to add is that the tipping point is 5x odds (i.e. puts match or beat places when made at 5x odds or better) on 5, 6, 8, 9. On 4,10 puts match places at 4x, but buys can pay better even above 4x providing vig is collected on a win only and you can push the house a little (i.e. vig is not always rounded up to the next dollar).
    2. Put vs. Pass/Come is not a valid comparison because it ignores the 2:1 advantage the latter bet has should it be resolved on the comeout roll. Pass/Come is a two-phase bet; Put is a single phase bet.
    3. Random_roller also mentioned, in effect, that there is no one-size-fits-all way to bet. Let me elaborate. Different players assign different relative values to the different factors that make up the gambling experience, factors like thrill of victory, agony of defeat, table time, admiration from fellow players, comps obtained, fun, [that's all I can think of right now but I'm all but sure there are others]. Hence each player must choose for him/herself a strategy that maximizes the probability of having a positive experience.

There is one aspect of the Put bet I did not see mentioned previously: it becomes a contract bet after the first roll of the dice after the bet is booked. The odds portion of the bet can be reduced or taken down completely; the flat portion can only be increased. That becomes relevant in the Put vs. Place comparison.

As r_r would say, "Objection: asked and answered." See (2) in Post #105 above.

Table Minimum and Odds... the original question.

I have not experienced a dealer not taking an Odds Bet on the Point that was LESS than the maximum. The dealer would disallow MORE, but never Less. This is probably what the end dealer said to the Player...

Some Odds like the 4 and 10 are 2X the Odds. No issue of any amount for Odds up to the limit.

The 5 and 9 must be in $2 increments to get Correct ODDS of 3 to 2 Odds wager.

    The 6 & 8 must be in $5 increments for a 6 to 5 Odds wager.

If the total of your Odds wager(s) are off, you will be paid EVEN MONEY on the 5, 6, 8 and 9.

Correct ODDS require the correct wager to get the benefit of the Odds Bet. Otherwise you are not maximizing your benefit of being paid the Correct ODDS.

At times a End Dealer will break down your ODDS bet to figure out the best payout. If you dispute the payout... have the dealer explain it to you. Not everyone is 100% up on all the nuances at a Craps Table. It is nothing to be embarrassed about. The guys around you were thinking the same thing, but too timid to ask.

That is one reason that I start to tip dealers within the first 10 minutes of the session.........they will usually remind me "five on a 6 and 6 on a five"........Has saved me a lot of money over the years.

    Speedracer has it figured out.

My Boss was going to teach me how to play Craps in Las Vegas around 1979, I was 30 years old. He showed me the best bet was the Don't Pass, placed a $100 chip. Seven... $100 gone. Then again, another $100 chip gone on the Come Out. We went across Las Vegas Blvd. to Little Caesars to play at their $1 table and eat all the free pop corn you could handle. That is when I bought John Scarne's book and studied up on Craps. There are no sure winners living near me from the Craps Table.

The 'local's Casino' staff will also know how you wager, press and take chips down. I see it at these less busy tables away from the Strip. Some Players come in often enough that the Craps Staff know them by sight and how they play.

I watch those who cover all the numbers with $3 Place Bets, a Pass Line with Odds. As they hit Place Bets, they press them up and get a stray $1 chip to keep the wager correct. The end Dealer has to work harder with a few of these players at the Table. I have noticed that the Craps Dealers are getting very good. At first, they were learning as the experience dealers go to Henderson or Las Vegas. Nothing worse than NO Players and dealers BSing the idle time away. This Casino is on Highway 95/93 heading to Henderson... hint , hint.

The catch phrase I've heard the most often goes something like, "Even odds on the odd numbers."
