A wise person would have been grooming a replacement decades ago and retired in 2009 when they could have easily locked that seat up until 2050.

The fact that she didn't shows you how power hungry and narcissist these people are.

She really should have retired long ago. As these justices get into their 80’s...it seems the clock starts running when they sneeze or there’s any hint of health issues....then the “can he/she hold on until the next President is elected”....becomes the focus. Shouldn’t work that way.

It then becomes a race to the end...who can hold out longer.

Mandatory age would be one solution.....

I don’t think an appointee can be blocked. He can appoint next week, Mitch has no blockade to rush thru the hearings. Nuclear option kills debate. Even with 3 defections (Grassley, Murkowski and Romney?).....that makes it 50/50. Pence breaks tie.

There’s going to be a lot of complaining...but there’s really nothing to stop the process from being finished either before election or before inauguration....even if Biden wins.

Politics is ruthless. Within 24 hours there are already high level meetings on who’s the replacement...?

Personally I feel 70 should be the limit for President, supreme court, the house and senate.

When I was a maintenance supervisor, it was a union shop with 30 and out. One of the machine repairman used to harass the guys who worked past the 30 years. He'd tell them, "You old pants pizzers need to retire so a young guy can have a shot" Lol.

    Dirty Tricks 201-

If this confirmation takes place before next January, can you imagine the lies and stories that the candidate will have to face? Could their dirty tricks be any worse than Brett Kavanaugh had to endure? Probably.

My thoughts:....Amy will be nominated ( just to stick it up the lefts ass even further)........this situation will help Trump ALOT.......it is the issue that put him over the top in 2016 and is the issue , now, which will get the bug out of the front page and make his supporters even stronger and the will make the christian vote even stronger and those in the middle ...we will get half.........this puts Trump in a stronger position than before she died...... ..he will drum up the importance of the supreme court big time.......IMHFO......she will have to be one tough broad as the incoming will be intense.

Thats my thoughts......cant even wait 48 hours........

Some republicans that hate the dems because of what they see them do, cant wait to
turn themselves into what they hate.

She will not be replaced before the next president takes office.

There's an opening on the Supreme Court.

Trump gets to nominate a replacement.

The Senate gets to vote on the nomination, 50 yea votes required.

    Welcome, ACB!

I don’t see any way to stop it. Ever since the nuclear option was utilized....debate can be closed down by the senate leader. You can’t drag it out.

He has the votes. There would have to be 4 defections to vote no.

    Grassley
    Murkowski
    Romney?

Graham has stated he would not want to appoint one....but he has the backbone of a worm. He will vote yes.

Truth be told....we have appointed 20 justices in the final year of a presidency. McConnell decided to play politics with Garland. Now everyone wants to do it.

My feeling is if a justice dies or retires during your presidency....YOU name a new one And he gets a hearing. No but...but...

    Avoids the politics.

That train has left the tracks......you cant avoid politics because to many people
have tied their entire identity to their political party....if i where a red hat does not
matter what republicans do it is all rright, if i wear a blue hat, same thing goes.

the sides are so far apart you cant have a party want to support their voters without
hurting equally the other sides voters.......you cant run a country that way.

speaking of hats....i am trying to get every Trump voter to wear a red hat to the polls ( with no writing on it)...in cT you can't wear anything political when voting......but they will get the message.

If I was a red-hat-wearing voter in Connecticut, I wouldn't waste my time voting.

If Biden wins there will be no reason to vote unless you live on the east coast or the west coast. that
will last until the dems completely destroy the east coast and the west coast.
