today in Brooklyn, nathans, over 100 years old, same location. t
I remember, when I lived in NY, getting hot dogs at Nathans.......long time ago.
I remember once I moved to long island in the early 60s, we went every sunday to visit my grandparents and nathans and the rides were our midday excursion.
I know my father went there as early as the 40s, maybe in the 30s.
Im sure all those hotdogs fries and oh man how he loved the beer, helped put him in an early grave.(48 y/o)
My old man just loved to party. All the time, 7 days a week. (he also smoked until he was 45.
I took pictures of the cyclone roller coaster, not sure if its still running, but its there...but pics didnt upload here.
coney island is still a shithole....amazing, on one side of surf ave there are luxury condos/coops, Im sure in the 3-5 hundred thousand range, (on the water) and less then 200 feet directly across the street are some of the worse city projects.
On our way from AC in the 80s and even 90s, wed always stop off there if we were hungry, even 1 in the morning, parked in front, felt safe enough, enough law enforcement always around to man a small city. Now there is a minor league ball park there also.
I remember going to coney island with my mom on the train......one day the roller coaster started to burn up and she started running...she had me by the hand and I remember in the other hand I had a hot dog,,,and wouldn't let that thing go......I had a death grip on it......I was very young at the time.
me and my sister once got stuck on a ferris wheel and had to wait hours before the fire department finally took us down, they couldnt get the thing going again. my mother was panicking we were having a blast. never got a 2 hour ride for 10 cents
...old faithful...meet young faithful

My train ride to Coney Island back in the 40's.
