Bailing them out was the right thing to do, the error was not prosecuting the head of those banks at the same time. But the people who made one decision are not the ones who made the other.

This had absolutely nothing to do with it and everything to do with banks execs trying to make their bonuses. There is not one banker that cares what the president wants.

So the American President is not important anymore....what country are you from ?

The more you talk the more I am convinced you don't know shit. And you sound like a big pussy, who is not willing to fight when fighting is called for. That's why country's have army's and atomic weapons. And the more you have with someone willing to use them, the more you will be feared and respected. You psydo-intellectuals make me sick. You need me on that wall.

Is that your gut feeling about it? As for YOU being on the wall I can do without and be pretty safe, there are plenty of smart people in the military and they have better solutions than carpet bombing civilians.

As for being ready to fight, I think you are blinded by your stupidity and think charging head first into walls makes you a real man... by all means go ahead maybe it will accidentally connect 2 neurons in there.

Typical big government lefties like Dodd and Frank came galloping in with more regulations after their very policies created the sh*t-storm in the first place. But bigger gov't will fix it!?

Ok sure, they were all thinking "the president wants us to put people in house so let's do it" and if that would have cost them their bonuses they would have done it anyway because they are all mindful of the president's wishes. Their meeting must have went like is: I don't care if this will crash the economy, the president said to give bad loans, bonuses are just a side effect of following the presidents wishes.

There is a good Freakanomics podcast if you want to hear the opinion of the person who was in the hot seat when it all went down, Berbanke gives himself a bit too much praise but it's interesting to hear his point of view as well.

You cant change history Wonko. I am sorry you do not like what's happened but if you were not watching the comedy channel and reading rolling stone online you would see it for what it is.

Yes its completely unbelievable, but it happened and if the progressives have their way it will continue.

Look the Community Reinvestment act. Who wrote it? What party made amendments to it for the next five years creating hundreds of government giveaways??? My god, wake up.

Passed by Congress in 1977, the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) states that “regulated financial institutions have continuing and affirmative obligations to help meet the credit needs of the local communities in which they are chartered.” The act then establishes a regulatory regime for monitoring the level of lending, investments, and services in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods traditionally underserved by lending institutions. Examiners from four federal agencies assess and “grade” a lending institution’s activities in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.

    95th Congress (1977–1979)
    Congressional Profile
    Total Membership:
    • 435 Representatives
    • 3 Delegates
    • 1 Resident Commissioner
    Party Divisions:*
    • 292 Democrats
    • 143 Republicans

Congress reformed the process for low- and middle-income bank loans,

Here it is in PDF. http://uscode.house.gov/statutes/pl/95/128.pdf

NONE OF IT WAS A SUGGESTION TO THE BANKS, THEY WERE REGULATIONS.

While you are at it look this over if you are capable.

yes you cannot change history, what you can do is only look at the analysis of such history that support your preconceived opinions and totally disregard all other economists and commissions that conclude that the CRA had very little to do with the sub-prime loans (it think close to 75% of them were offered by institutions that were not regulated by the CRA)

Anyway, I hardly believe we will convince each other otherwise...

I give you hard facts. You return with some statement you copied somewhere. Read the statement.

look at the analysis of such history that support your preconceived opinions and totally disregard all other economists and commissions that conclude that the CRA had very little to do with the sub-prime loans

history that support your preconceived opinions

totally disregard all other economists and commissions

Bring one example of each sentence if they are not bullshit.

BACK UP YOUR WORDS OR CONCEDE YOU KNOW NOTHING

Quoting Mr. Cembalest, the analyst, ``In January 2009, I
wrote that the housing crisis was mostly a consequence of the
private sector. However . . . what emerges from new research is
something quite different: Government agencies now look to have
guaranteed, originated, or underwritten 60 percent of all
`nontraditional' mortgages, which totaled $4.6 trillion in June
2008. What's more, this research asserts that housing policies
instituted in the early 1990s were explicitly designed to
require U.S. Agencies to make much riskier loans, with the
ultimate goal of pushing private sector banks to adopt the same
    standards.''

1 2 3 4 you declare a quote war. And what would happen if I were to waste my time, give you your quotes, would you change your mind? The sentence about preferring facts that support preconceived opinions was ironically aimed at us both, as I implied in my last sentence. We will not convince each other.

So I concede, there are absolutely no congressional commissions that have concluded the CRA had little cause, and all the analysts have done like Mr Cembalest and retracted their previous conclusions also absolutely no prominent economist have an opinion contrary to yours so it is impossible for me the continue to wage this very important craps forum quote war.

    Congratulation

I am wrapping up my road trip and stopped off at the riverboats in Iowa where I ran into this fellow who said he wanted my vote. Well I am a very conservative dude will always vote Republican so I asked him if he could answer three questions.

First, are you a conservative or liberal? Response: Neither, I am in it for my own self gratification and will say anything to get votes from these idiots.

Secondly, I watch the Hitler channel on cable TV quite frequently and you remind me of Benito Mussolini with your posturing and posing in a manner very similar to his as well as answering the nations call for a strong man as opposed to a weak Obama. Response: Yea, I admire that man very similar to my friend in Moscow.

Third, if you were President what would you do about the biased dice coming in from Mexico? Response: I would build a wall and kick out all of the unbalanced dice researchers who are causing problems in my casinos. Here is a pic of our encounter:
    trump w lid.jpg

I shook his hand but said I could not vote for him since his physical appearance looks weird to me. He responded that it didn’t matter since he will win anyways and besides he doesn’t like me.
