I minimized my play while working. Now that I am retired I play 2-3 times a week and still have time for a 3 mile walk each day. I also read 4-5 books per month. I will continue this as long as the government keeps sending a monthly check.

I have modified the following joke from the latest Jack Reacher novel to fit my situation:

" I would rather die from a heart attack at a Craps game like my great grandfather, then die screaming in terror like the rest of the passengers on the Titanic".

    Good luck.

Ive met td twice, he has zero fat on him, Im willing to bet his hikes and most of the others here including me are quite different as he could probably hike hours in the desert heat without passing out or getting tired.
And I believe he loves the warm air.

    Joe,
I may be wrong, but as one who remembers your enthusiasm for the game, all I think you need is a fresh perspective. Time away is good time, bkz it offers a chance to break old patterns & rethink your approach.

Engage in a bit of neuroplasticity: the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections, allowing neurons to adjust their activities in response to new stimuli, situations & changes in environment.

Consider cleaning slate. And to show that you're serious empty the safe. Take the wife out to dinner. I went to The Palm in Tribeca last night with my son. Dinner for 2 just under $500. Resources that don't move get stuck after awhile & become stale & crusty. Feel the freedom in releasing that money, like a burden off your shoulders. Abundance is always flowing & new money's waiting to come once there is room for it to flow.

Now you're ready & all kinds of new ideas come, some you would never think of doing. Be radical; unconventional. There are so many ways to have a satisfying experience at this game. Have a New Ideas Meeting with yourself...

If I had spent $500 for two with my son u can bet I would have a flood of new thoughts flooding into my head. The freedom of releasing that money would quickly come into my brain telling me just what "the hell did I do" spending that money. But then again I would b waiting for the release of that abundance of new money "once there is room for it to flow". I can hardly wait. Just sayin.

Back when I had hair color & could shoot a basketball, my first 6 point fire bet came on my way out of Harrah's with just $10 left in my pocket. That's when people started following me around the casino calling me:
    "The Comeback Kid".

Then, after I proceeded to 7 out a few times they called me:
    "The Quack from Hackensack".

I've gotten much shorter over the years also. When I was younger, I was very tall. I absolutely towered...standing at 5:7. Lol.
    Nowadays, I stand at a whopping 5:6!

    Don't laugh......at least I'm still vertical...huh? Lol

Well, I got you there...almost. Last time I counted I had to use all my fingers and most of my toes. Then I read the instructions: "Do not apply Grey Be Gone to artificial hair." [Expletive deleted]ing Bosley!

Koko - good to hear from you. I wondered how your daily / weekly trips were going.

Much like you, my playing has become once a month, once every two months. Too much going on with life - it's hard to find the time.

My offers for the 4 casinos I used to frequent, have dried up to 2. Match Play for 2 of them, and $5.00 food voucher for one. The other two casinos quit sending me anything months ago. Apparently I didn't spend enough money at those to make a difference to them.

    Myc,

Give me a call or a PM if you want to get together, but it would need to be the Rivers for me. Only my very first visit to Meadows was a winner - all other trips there have sucked, both from the point of view of results and having a good time. :(

Actually Koko, I had just done a last minute trip to The Meadows and then The Rivers - Friday night / early Saturday morning. I got to Rivers around 1:00 A.M.
When I went to print out my $10.00 Match Play coupon, nothing came up on the Promotions. I asked Cardservices where my $10.00 Match Play was and was told, "Oh, you have to print those out before midnight." I ended up just standing around watching others play and then I left.
If I know ahead of time when my next trip is, I'll let you know ahead of time.
