    Hey everybody,

Just to let you know, The Strip (South Las Vegas Blvd, from Russell to Sahara) will be closed starting at 6pm.

As usual there is no glass allowed on The Strip, but this year they are not allowing any BAGS at all. Security will be at a heightened state this year due to the world terrorism we are seeing.

Uber and Lyft are planning special pickup and drop off areas to help visitors get around (see the article).

If you are new to uber and lift, then use the two links below to get some First Time Rider credit on your rides.

I spent one new years eve in manhattan, and one in AC not sure of the year.
Im pretty sure manhattan NY and atlantic city has enough assholes on New years eve to win a prize, but Im also betting vegas might take top place filled with asswipes on New years eve.
Must be a pickpockets paradise.(toys r us used to do 40% of their years business 3 weeks up to xmas, pickpockets and petty thieves must do 40% of their yearly intake on New years eve)

near me, usually, a local cab company offers free rides within a few miles of their stand on new years eve during the early hours of new years day.

I spent New Years eve of the new millenium in Vegas. The rooms were thousands of dollars a nite. It was funny because a day or two later they were fifty bucks.

I live outside of AC and refuse to go near it during New Years. I couldn't imagine what it's like in Vegas. Good luck to anyone who ventures to these spots on New Years Eve.

    oh yeah, I could imagine.
room over in claridge, once ballys took it over years ago before it was again by itself,if its still open?
anyway, my niece and her friends went down on a new years eve, and trust me, those rooms are such shit I refuse them when offered as a comp.
they paid something like 650 dollars for the room on new years eve.
    joke,

I think theres a huge difference, while Im sure there are several thousand people walking the boardwalk in ac at midnight, theres few tourist walking pacific ave or atlantic ave.

in vegas, there must be 100 thousand tourists out on the strip all night long, and I bet the cops don't hassle them too much with open alcohol as long as they aren't rowdy.

when we were in ballys year ago on new years eve, it was regular casino business as usual, packed beyond belief, but everyone kept gaming, a few watched the countdown and cheered.
work, work work, raking in the dough.

Yes, I'm sure Vegas is nowhere near AC with tbe amount of people. I was just thinking that the casinos themselves would be way too packed for what I care for. Don't want to have to squeeze onto a table. My brother in law told me he did New Years at Tropicana one year and it took him 2 hours to get out of the garage. No thank you.

New Years Even on the strip is radical. ton of fun, ton of people. Ton of people in wild outfits. Ton of drunks. I went a few years ago and had a blast. It is really a big party everyone is out and the strip lights up with fireworks. They close the street down which opens up the strip so you are no longer limited to sidewalks.

Vegas and AC are crowded on new years eve and tables have high minimums, it is fun but not the ideal time to play craps.

If your in AC there are fireworks at 9pm or 10pm at Tropicana on the board walk.

Ballys has an big party at Wild West with open bar options.

And the next morning on the boardwalk beach area at Resorts is the "polar bear plunge" which i am considering.

Vegas does a great job on the strip but you need to have a room there. They have the whole police force and mounted police out there. There are many parties's going on that you can buy into.

Every casino has something happening for their guess! But the one thing I wouldn't do is play craps over the weekend. The tables will be packed I can already see the influx of people in the casinos!

Unless you are Heavy or Howard, who can belly up to any table and roll a monster hand every time ;), I do not recommend to play craps at any casino during the entire New Years weekend.

First, the table minimums will be high,
second the casinos will be packed

Theft will be an all time high for robbery, stupid people, and drunks. Driving will be a nightmare, so use Uber/Lyft.

If you plan to be in Vegas for NYE, and need an Emergency contact...drop me a line and ill send you my number. One never knows when you need someone to help you out.

Good advice for all of the out-of-town guys! I know my neighbor has not been getting any sleep he is second in command of Metro and works hard every year on the security for the strip with everyone in the department to make sure everyone is safe and has a good time!
