Headed to DC for 3 days of sightseeing next week. Intend to stop by National Harbor on Monday PM. I read on the Forum that $15 might be the minimum. So, I'll probably just be observing. My congressman, Jim Renacci fixed me up with VIP passes to the White House and Capitol for Wednesday. Staying at the Wyndham-Alexandria M-T-W nights, close to the site of the Manafort trial. Plan to hit most of the museums on the Mall, including the National Gallery of Art to see their latest addition. Thanks to 777 for the tip.

Your hotel is close to the King Street Metro Station. Easy to get to the White House / Capitol via Metro, but unfortunately there isn't a Metro station near MGM National Harbor. A fairly easy drive to the casino from your hotel, though, as long as you're avoiding rush hour. A bit of a walk to the bars & restaurants closer to the river in Old Town, though.

When I'm visiting NoVA, I usually try and stop by Fortune (Falls Church, VA) for dim sum.

    Have a good visit!

Thanks for the heads up. Funny you should mention that restaurant. I ran the Montgomery Ward store located at 6100 Arlington Blvd from 1984-86 which is across the street and 1/4 mile east of Fortune. My old MW store was torn down (asbestos) and a new Target was built on the site. Fortune must be next to the Home Depot where FBI agent, Linda Franklin, was murdered by the DC snipers in 2002. Malvo shot across Arlington Blvd (Rt 50), from a strip center parking lot and killed Franklin with a head shot.

Fortune's current location (since '99) is in the same shopping center (Seven Corners Center) as Home Depot and Barnes & Noble, which is across from Target. Years ago, the restaurant was further south and located on Leesburg Pike. Cart service dim sum. Gotta love it.

Im surprised after 9-11 they still have vip tours of the white house.
way back in Id guess around 90 or 91, my bil who worked for dept of defense, now homeland security, got us a private tour , our tour guide was a general in the military, it was spectacular, went in the back entrance of the white house and areas not on the regular tour, then he took us across the street to the dept of navy buildings, and I don't recall what other buildings.
I thought that kind of stuff ended after 9-11........enjoy.

Stopped by to see the Home Depot site on the way home from Alexandria to Ohio. Wow, Fortune is nearly on top of the HD parking lot. Sadly, no memorial to Linda and the other victims. Suppose that HD doesn't want to remind any customers of that horrific night. The bad guys were captured at the Myersville rest stop on westbound I-70. Had to stop there too. No plaque there either.

Rode the Metro 10-12 times on Tuesday-Wednesday. Average wait time < 3 minutes. Really. Spotlessly clean. Best mass transit system that I have ever seen.

Ate dinners at Joe Theismann's and Pentagon City Mall 2x. Dim sum next time. Visited Manafort
court site, White House, Capitol, Natural and American history museums, Air/Space, Holocaust,
Ford's, St Matthew's, St. Patrick's, National Harbor, Alexandria riverfront. Pooped! Must have
    walked 10 miles.
