This last trip to the casinos , Parker and I went to the table shortly
after lunch on the second day. I had gotten the dice and threw a hard 8
on my come out roll. The stick man slid the dice to me and a guy crowded in ,
between Parker and myself , threw a $100 bill to the box man requesting chips
I set the dice down till this turd got situated , box man said "throw the dice".
The idiot asked Parker , "Is he a good shooter"?
Parker said , "One of the best "
The guy says , "Well I think I will bet on him"
so he puts $6 on the 8 and a come bet.
Parker suggested he "play across and play the hard 6 and hard 8
The guy said , "No I usually only have one bet up at a time.

When I finally sevened out we went to the cashiers cage and Parker came out
with a fistful of cash the guy asked Parker how much he had won , Parker told him
and asked him how much he had won. The guy was all excited with a $300 win
said it was the most he had ever won.
The guy followed us to the bar where Parker explained the differences between
"Playing to lose less" and , "PLAYING TO WIN".
It turns out that the guy reads the Craps Forum. He asked Parker
if he ever gets on it . Parker said , "On rare occasions"
The guy said it was on the Craps forum that he learned his
betting strategy and now he loses a lot less.

Crap now the guy will know who he was talking with
    So to the guy
I would very strongly suggest you readdress your betting strategies
Those Triple Hardways , Parker suggested you bet ,
    We hit each of them
Do the math and figure out how much you left on the table
by not betting the $5 on each.

I think it might have been me.

Did the guy look like Jeff Bridges? Yes? Yeah, that was me.

But I've been a DI for a week or so now, so not understanding the "under betting" from this guy.

I'm balls to the walls, full press, parlay all day.

I use the hard 8, throw it straight, don't be late toss.

I had another big one, after you guys headed back to Harrahs.

I guess it could have been you ,
do you hold the $6 you are going to place on the 8 in your hand ,
close your eyes , make the sign of the cross , kiss the chips , cross your fingers ,
mutter some sort of little prayer and holler "JEEESSUUUS" then
when the dice hit the table open your eyes see the number
and scream like a preteen girl????

DI's don't believe in Jesus, their religion is the dice.

I put the fours up top and the butterflies face me.

Throw the dice to the same spot every time. That device SuperRick uses would be buzzing like a bastard.

Same bet, sir? No f*cking way! Press that bitch up!

I had a conversation with a novice player who told me
that he read in a book that one way to win at craps was
to limit your bets to one or two at a time , he said that
betting in that manner insures that you lose less than
you would by having more money on the table. He asked
my opinion of that. I told him

YOU CANNOT WIN MORE BY LOSING LESS
YOU CAN ONLY WIN MORE BY WINNING MORE.

    You asked about 1967?
As a matter of fact New Years eve 1967 Sydney had a New Years
Party for a bunch of his friends at the Golden Nugget
    afterwords we played a bit.
3 of Sydney's friends were masters with the dice they , Sydney and I
went over to Binion's and got on the table. Sydney got the dice.
Samual had me stand next to him . He said ,
"Bet the way I bet and don't bet the pass line"
I said why? He said ,
    "He won't make any points"
    I said , "But he's good"
Sydney threw and threw , we made a ton of money , Sydney
never threw a point , when I asked him why he said
"You don't want to make points , there's no money in them
you just want to throw numbers".
He said , "The only reason I bet the pass line is they require it for me to get the dice"
He said , "The pass line and come bet suck , that's why
they BRIBE YOU with true odds on the odds bet to play them"
So what happens then , is they con you into
playing the worst bet on the table by requiring you to make yet a second bet .
    People actually fall for that,

YEP THAT WAS IN 1967 , Funny you would know that

I am not sure I agree with your premise regarding betting.

One of the things Frank talked about which I agreed with is that each bet you
make is a contract with the casino, and there is a cost for that bet. The more bets you
    make the higher the cost.

I think one would have to be out of his mind to go to the table and bet $640 across the
first time you touched the dice. Maybe after you determined your shot was on and your
averaging more than 8 shots per hand.....but then to this indicated your going to play a number
    of hands....

I have far more trouble with that that a single $300 bet on the 6 if it is hitting more than
    it should be.

I watched a gentleman for a period of time in Vegas two years ago. He was charting some
way and his bet was a single bet of $600 on the 6 or 8,not both.

He did well, he cashed out in the thousands, and from what I saw that night, he did that
without the benefit of any long rolls by any player.

No one goes to the table and knocks it out of the part every night, so if your betting a
significant bet across, there are going to be those nights you pay the piper, and I dont
think any new player should do that.

    LOL....

I think I saw more 7's rolled today in about an hour of play than I have ever seen before. Combination of early 7 outs and 7 come out winners. We were all just looking at each other wtf?

There is ACTUALLY only a cost if you lose the bet.
If you win the bet , you get your original bet back plus
a like amount plus the agreed upon odds. No cost there
Rather than cost I prefer to think in terms of risk,
"RISK & REWARD" to be exact.
One of the reasons a lot of people find it difficult to impossible to win
is because they seldom have enough money on the table
to be able to take full advantage of a descent roll.
If a person prefers to risk less he must also be willing
    to win less.

I know some really fine craps players and I don't know any who
    do or WOULD do that.
I have had some extremely large wins starting with $27 across.
One of the biggest contributors to losing is throwing
box numbers you have no bet on.
Again with the right betting strategy a player can do
much better than just pretty good betting $27 across .
The reason new players lose the way they do is not SIMPLY because
    they bet too many bets.
They lose because they never make the effort to learn how to win.
They listen to the naysayers who say you can't win
the odds favor the house so they set out to figure a way to win

They literally set out to , TEACH THEMSELVES.
So for all INTENTS & PURPOSES they are
Trying to learn something from somebody who knows
    nothing about the subject material.

Can you imagine some new guy trying to teach himself
what you have learned from Frank and Dom two of the experts in the field?
It is beyond ludicrous to even conceive such an idea.

No the reality is they don't lose because they bet too many numbers
they lose because they don't know how to win.
