This casino was initially due to open in 2017, but now will open this Fall. Located 7 miles from the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Prince George County, MD.

    Pressit,

I see that there is also a casino in or near Cumberland, Rocky Gap?, but their web site doesn't give any details about their table games.

Have you been there? What are max odds?

3x/4x/5x odds per the link below (see page 4):

    https://www.rockygapcasino.com/admin/uploads/onlinerules2display-xcx.pdf

My wife and I stopped by Rocky Gap Casino Resort in 2014, about a year after it opened. It was a good rest stop on our way to Northern Virginia. The large parking lot & grounds provided a good area for our dog to safely walk around. The facility was nice, but unfinished; construction was still ongoing at the time we visited. The casino itself is on the small side. I collected a chip but didn't do any gambling. If memory serves, gaming is on 2 floors. As you can see from the picture below, the building doesn't look anything like a Las Vegas casino.

Thanks RR. I see the place is only a couple of hours from home for me. Maybe something to go see to try out something new.

Koko, I've gone there once, it was a little under 2 hours from my place. They have the ATS and 2 craps tables(I think). One was a 5 and one was a 10 table. The resort itself is pretty nice. We took our kayaks down and went on the lake and took a hike around the lake, didn't go all the way around I think it's 6 miles or something and she was pregnant at the time. They also have a golf course on site(not my game). When we booked online they had a deal that you got whatever you paid for the room back in slot play. I'd say go check it out during the summer, lots of outdoor activities. Although you can probably get better room rates in the winter... Although would be a hell of drive in some snow

You're welcome, KKJ4. It's a very relaxing setting. Worth checking out IMO. And if you're a golfer, you're really in luck. As PSUhard8 mentioned, there is a golf course.

Have you been to Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Erie, PA?

Not sure how Maryland decides on what areas get a casino, and was unaware that Cumberland had one, but at least it is far away from th I-95 corridor. Not sure what is going on in Maryland, but from Baltimore down I-95 to DC there will be no less than 4 casinos. According to this story a new casino is under construction, https://news.worldcasinodirectory.c...l-at-arundel-mills-will-begin-this-fall-31826

Maryland Live! Casino has been open for several years (2012). The owners are building a hotel, conference center & events center for the Maryland Live! casino, in order to better position it to compete with MGM's National Harbor casino. Plenty of parking lot space for the facilities expansion at Arundel Mills shopping center. The picture below is from 2014. The shopping center is across the parking lot to the left (not pictured).

You are correct. I thought this casino already existed but the article's headline made you think this is a new casino. Still not sure exactly what is going on in MD with all these casinos concentrated along I-95, plus MD has a few other casinos built in the hinterland.

That area has a lot of people with decent money, primarily courtesy of the federal government.and the spending/contracts it awards to suppliers in the region. I think the state of Maryland got tired of losing tax revenues from casinos operating in neighboring states such as Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia and the voters in MD approved the ballot measure legalizing casinos. That I-95 corridor between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore is where much of the state's population resides. Aside from putting one in Montgomery County (where people have serious money), I think Maryland did as well as it could in placing casinos throughout the state. Rocky Gap takes care of western Maryland; the Casino at Ocean Downs (Berlin, MD) takes care of the Ocean City / Eastern Shore crowd; Horseshoe (Baltimore) & Hollywood (Perryville) take care of Baltimore area; Maryland Live! addresses the central part of the state (Anne Arundel County, Annapolis) and DC; and once it opens, National Harbor will address the DC/MD/NoVA market.

I think we're going to see some ridiculous revenue numbers from National Harbor. Once that casino opens, it will be very interesting to see if voters in the Commonwealth of Virginia finally decide to approve casinos.

Don't get up that way much, and have never stopped at Presque Isle. If we head in that direction on a road trip, it's usually to Niagara Falls, where I normally don't fare too well, but enjoy playing there.

MGM National Harbor is now open. Opening weekend craps table minimums were $50 and (unfortunately) had 3-4-5x odds. I didn't get an exact count but it was 10-12 craps tables right next to the cashier. They offer the Small/Tall/All bet.

A little disappointed due to the 3-4-5x odds since their main competitors in the state are MD Live (10x odds) and Horseshoe Baltimore (100x odds) however they are also paying 6:5 on most of their non-high limit BJs.

Sounds from this like a place to avoid, if you want to "improve" your chances in the casino.

MGM National Harbor probably will not have to offer higher odds or better payouts (on EGDs) than Maryland Live! or Horseshoe Baltimore because of its great location and M Life rewards program. At some point, I expect MGM to offer a shuttle from Old Town (Alexandria).

I will probably continue to play there once the limits go down to $25 or hopefully $15. The property is extremely beautiful and you can tell they spent tons and tons of money on it. It just sucks that they are trying to get it back through poorer rules/payouts.

How is the parking garage at MGM National Harbor? Is there a charge to self park?

Too bad Metro (rail) isn't within walking distance of MGM National Harbor at the present time, but the NH1 & NH2 bus lines are an option from the Southern Avenue station.

It's free for now, they are planning to charge for parking in the future. Valet is 25 for up to 12 hours and it's 45 after 12 hours

Opening weekend and MGM National Harbor has been packed based upon the tweets & media releases. People who have made it to the casino floor will grab the first open spot at a table and start playing regardless of the game and/or table minimum. No need for MGM to have $15 tables this weekend, lol. I was at the opening for Rivers Casino (Des Plaines, IL) in 2011 and it was that way. Five years later and there are $5 craps tables at Rivers Casino during the week, with a $10 craps table on busy nights (along with $15 & $25 craps tables).
