thankyou td for posting that
I never got to do the Bohunk Challenge with Tom P. And not by any fault of his. He was willing and did travel to so many parts of the country, always saying he would do the challenge with folks. I believe if I showed more fervent interest he would have swung by the east coast to take me up on any BC offering I would have made.
Anyway, in Tom's honor I just did a version of the BC.
I elected the six sixes challenge. That meant I needed to roll 60 or more sixes in 360 rolls. I chose a bet of $20.00 to win $200.00.
I used the www.random.org website to do the dice rolls (I highly recommend this site to do random rolls).
Alas, I only rolled 51 sixes in 360 rolls! One more than expected, but not 1 more per 36 rolls - 60, as the challenge stipulated. So I lose.
I have donated the $20.00 to Jacob's Beer fund in Tom P.'s honor!!
Tom P., hope you're having fun and good luck up there in heaven's big Casino in the sky!
When I did it...I got 54. It ain't easy.
Nice on the donation. Kudos.
Well said, and well done!
Really bummed to hear of this . Tom was a good dude.
We all experience losses in this life. It’s something we have to deal with, but dammit to hell, why Tom?
James Hall called Tom a poet, and I totally agree, and would say that he was a poet-philosopher armed with a stogie, a pair of dice, and a wad of cash. He was a mediator, a peacemaker, and a gifted writer who left his treasure on these pages. I didn’t get a chance to meet Tom and will live with that regret. I know Tom is playing at a table right now that offers no vig buys and his favorite 3X 2&12 Field bet. I wish you a Pat DeMauro hand and your rack filled with pumpkins.
You’ve left a huge hole here, and you will be missed terribly.
My sincere condolences to Tom’s family and friends.
Happy New Year, Twelve4s. Good to hear from you. Wish it was under better circumstances.
Same to you Random.
I still can’t get over Tom. He Really was a Great Guy.
Wishing you a prosperous New Year at the rail, and elsewhere!
Tom sent me a pm on December 5th asking for my help with a meme he was trying to modify with his name in place of Mr. Wilson. I hope it’s ok to share this. I mean no disrespect, and it’s such a great illustration of Tom’s sense of humor.
This is the before meme,
This is what Tom requested,
Somehow Tom got the idea that I have a supper computer like Barney’s and I know how to use it. Anyway I managed on my iPad, and on first attempt, misspelled his last name. He kindly pointed out my error and i redid it to his satisfaction. I asked him if he was going to use the meme to make his doctor a Christmas card. He said he was going to send it out to a select few. Never mentioned he was sick or in the hospital. I just thought he was on some medication and wanted to make a joke to his doctor about it. I’d like to post the whole pm in his memory, but not sure if that’s kosher?
One of many great posts by the tough craps player,
12s that was a excellent posts as yours usually are when ever you stop in here to post you sir would help fill that hole I hope you do it more often casinos suck and now that you dont enter them is cool but you can still stop buy and lay some of your wisdom, compassion and most defiantly your humor on us
Well done. I'm going to try and get the casino to chip in a few dollars for the Beer Fund, just like last year.
Tom's service was today. It was in Waverly which is about 40 miles west of Minneapolis, maybe less. I was hoping to make it out there but the day was shot for me till 2:00 PM and it's a good hour & a half from my house. Also i was another 20 miles east on the Wisconsin border so I did the next best thing.
i pointed the Explorer east and drove to His ol haunt, Turtle Lake Casino. After arriving i had a bit to eat and played a bit on the machines since the Craps table was packed. Checking back later they opened up another half and I had room to step in.
I had already eaten half my budget so i just placed a 6/8 bet for Tom, said a little prayer and played the pass line for myself. The point was 6 and after a few throws the 6 came in.
I took down the bet and played another pass line bet.
7 on come out. pressed the passline bet. shooter tossed a 5.
i placed a field bet figuring what could go wrong. Shooter tosses the 7.
I was just down a little and kept it that way.
I aint no tough craps player.
RIP Thomas, RIP.
Very well said!
Rest in Peace , Tom !
I do not know how I missed this thread back in January. I have of course seen a few posts that implied Tom was no longer with us, but it was not until DeMango used the word "dead" in a post yesterday that I decided to check out how others seemed to know something I did not.
Many thanks for this link. I considered making an entry in the registry but decided against it for fear of interrupting the family's recovery, plus I did not really have anything to add to what had already been said.
Come to think of it, the same applies here; I think my only legitimate reason for this untimely post is to avoid being conspicuous by my absence. I knew Tom only through this forum but would not at all have minded sharing a table, craps or coffee, with him (and of course g. geist, his alter ego).
