Very sad to hear Tom P has passed away. I never met him but those on this forum who were fortunate to have done so had good things to say about him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Life is precious and every waking moment is a gift we shouldn't take for granted. Based upon his trip reports, I think Tom P did just that.

Here is the link to the thread when Tom P. formally presented the 'Bohunk Challenge'. I am the first to reply, as I thought the 10 to 1 odds he offered to roll 1 more SIX than expected in 360 rolls was a great bet. I sadly was never able to take the challenge.

    http://www.crapsforum.com/threads/the-bohunk-challenge.14212/

The BC went on to become an object of mystery and fascination here at the forum; a mythical quest.

(I edited the text to read 'formally presented' instead of 'first presented', as Betwthelines had discussed 'challenges' prior to posting the official Bohunk Challenge thread)

Thanks for sharing that post. Like many I enjoyed his posts and his approach to craps. His passing is a huge loss for all.

My last PM with tom. He was looking forward to his Vegas trip. I don't think tom would mind me sharing these words. He liked to refer to my picking him up at the airport or downtown as "TDV limo service"...lol.

The sad part is that right up until the 12th...I expected him. He must have fallen ill that day as there was no previous mention of any problem or issue.

"just gotta email from red rock saying basically they "can't wait to see me"

this suggested to me that perhaps it might already not be too soon to look into the tdvegas limo schedule, if any, for that week (dec 12 - 17) with an eye towards alternatives should things not pan out...

the bohunk's flight (spirit 763) is sked to arrive 1050pm on tues, dec 12...from there he plans to spend that night wandering the fremont street environs until check in usually as early as he can get away with (nominally 3pm but virtually always a room is ready by noon, 'specially when one is not fussy) on the 13th...for one dt night only...

...then on to red rock forra thur, dec 14 check-in...check out is whatever (11a? noon?) on the 17th, sunday...from there it is back to mccarren but at no particular time or whatever time would be most convenient for the tdv limo service, if applicable, but maybe the prudently later the better as there is a (very) outside chance at cashing a sports bet on the the late sunday nfl game.

the return flight is not actually until monday but at 12:30 am.
what do you think? is the td vegas limo service still in business?

TD: Thank you for your service!
I did get to warm up to Tom in the last year. His intellectual put downs of AssHall were classic. Much appreciated. OAP don't leave us. Tom got gold but you are solid silver!

    TD -

In ALL seriousness - and ALL past BS aside -

Please contact Tom's son and when you do -

    LINK to THIS SITE -

As I doubt that Tom's son has / had any inclination as to WHAT / WHO his father was / is and WHAT influence HE had on THIS BOARD !

    Just a suggestion -

Perhaps it will go a long way - perhaps not !

If I knew Tom as well as you or others - I would NOT hesitate in doing what was suggested !

    However,

DEATH is INEVITABLE - and " Guaranteed "

Unless your name is " Mary , Mother of Jesus " !

    Then the " inevitable " - " death " evades YOU !

Even " Moses " who was God's Chosen One -

condolences to his family, this is a sad day for this board.
his posts, although I had to run off and find what some of his words meant now and then, , were refreshing and upfront.

we pmed now and then about getting together since we played very similar games, tried to make it last trip to Nevada, he wasn't around town, really going to miss him, wish I had the chance to meet him. Sad, very sad.

I hope they have a dollar table with 100 times odds for tom up in heaven, keep him busy.

I just read this....this is terrible news.

I enjoyed Tom's posts especially describibng his trip to Australlia.

He was above average smart, had a great vocabulary, and very much enjoyed our game.

We made a wager on the Presidential race....the wager was my book ...I win he pays...he wins he gets it for free. I told him he would be a winner either way.

He was always a gentleman with me.

I never met him and wish I had.

I must have his address somewhere but if someoine could send it to me, I would like to send his family a card.. Too bad we couldn't send his family one card with all our signatures on it.

I seriously cannot believe what I am reading here. I am in shock! This just shouldn't happen to someone like Tom. As most of you know I met and spent time with Tom on his trip down under. We did stuff more than just craps. He even had the urge to come back one day soon and I was planning ahead at meeting up with him again one day when times were not so tough for me to travel.
I feel cheated that this man has been taken away from us so young. Irrespective of what was ever written and said on this board Tom was a gentle man. I feel deeply hurt. Sincere condolences to his family. May he forever rest in peace.

If you have Tom's address 777, perhaps you can share it by way of PM as I would also like to send a card to Tom's family.

Funny anecdote with tom from last year. When he first arrived at Red Rock and checked in...he went up to his room. About 2 hours later I met him on the casino floor. He was telling me how nice he thought the place was and everything and then proceeded to tell me it was 184 steps from the elevator bank to his room. He counted. He wasn't necessarily complaining as he said the exercise was good...but I remember saying "you counted"?.....he just kind of looked at me with a serious face and said "yes".

My thinking with tom is he loved numbers. Loved doing calculations. Loved doing dice simulations. I have more wincraps results from him than I can count.

His bohunk challenge was carefully calculated. He knew the probabilities. He knew his chances. He also knew he could lose...but he did not go in blind.
