It could be the blinds, but most of the time when you see a $2-$4 etc,, type game, the first is the minimum bet, the second the maximum bet.

I use to play in a $2-$6 lowball game, and it was definitely not a boring game. Of course money values were a bit different than today.

Yeah, that would probably happen to me, also, so I don't play poker anymore.

And I've been trying to lay off the stuff....

    Thanks a lot...

Btw, "Hombre" is in my top ten movies of all time.

How about this scene, when John Russell says, "Ya, I gotta a question. How you gettin down that hill?"

Or when the Mexican yells at Russell, " Hey Hombre! You put a hole in me! I'm going to put a hole in you, Hombre!"

He kept his word on that one.

there are blinds in 7 card stud?
right. that's what i thought...reason i was scratching my head over our royal guy being disappointed with a pot of a hundred...that would be a monster pot in $1/$2 game.

twelves had it right i believe...had to have either been a no-limit or a pot limit game...

I never play straight seven card stud, so don't know. Many other games have the blinds though.

I do recall some pots in that game well north of $300, when lots of raises and re-raising going on, but jeez that was 40 years ago? I do recall buying in for $100 and leaving with about $175, after being up about $400 at one point. Tried to get greedy.

There's the ante, then ya bet after your hole cards, then after each new card. Lots of betting usually.

    yep

at one time Hombre was #2 on my all time list after The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, which is somewhat curious as i am not particularly a big fan of westerns...now Hombre might have slipped out my top 10 however but it is certainly in my top 20 still, maybe even top 12.

but even though it has been a while since i have seen it, i DO remember---and quite vividly---both those scenes you described...in fact the idiosignature in my post, "eh hombre! you want some whikskey?" was from that sequence as well...

here's another: in the very opening scene in a bar in delgado drinking mezcal when an arrogant range rat (lamar dean, his character name) and his buddy come in & start giving russell's apache pals a very hard, racist time...russell of course puts their shit right out in the street.

what follows is really odd because i actually copied and pasted this script synopsis onto my scratch doc several months ago while looking for something else...normally it would have been deleted by now & i almost did that a few times but weirdly held on to it & now even more weirdly i now actually can use it in a bleeping CRAPS forum...

later in the movie russell's stage is being robbed by dean and his fellow bandits...by then russell had cut his hair and was wearing white man's clothes and dean had been suspiciously looking over russell & ominously wondering just why he looked so familiar...

...after relieving the passengers of their valuables:

Lamar Dean: [Russell has climbed to the top of the stage] What are you doin' up there?
    John Russell: Gettin' my things.
    Lamar Dean:
You figurin' on going some place?
    John Russell: Why stay here?
Lamar Dean: Just how far do you thin you're gonna get?
John Russell: That's to find out.
Lamar Dean: [takes one waterbag] Now how far did you say you were gonna get?
Henry Mendez: Leave us some water!
Lamar Dean: [shoots the remaining waterbag] Now how far?
John Russell: Oh about as far as Delgado's.
Lamar Dean: [stops, turns and looks back] What does that mean?
John Russell: Maybe if we all get thirsty we'll go to Delgado's and get some "mezcal."
the last look of astonishment on dean's face was a very good piece of acting as russell blows him away with his rifle that had been hidden with his "things"

I live in Vegas, dude -

20 minutes East of the Strip by car - because the traffic lights are not properly synchronized -

Would be less than half that time to get there if they were -

I need alternate ways to occupy my time aside from playing in the casinos all day !

WHAT is YOUR lame excuse ?

    $...eE..$

I like to play texas hold'em, no limit. I usually always play, that is when I go to Laughlin, at the Belle. They run a pretty good game. In the nite it is usually $50+5. At about 9 or 10am the price is usually $30. But more perps play in the evening so those games have about 25-30 perps so the payoffs r higher. Just sayin.
