Lets say I bet the dont pass minimum amount, and then take max odds like 5x. The come out roll is terrible for you because of the almighty seven is going to eat you alive so the odds are against you. Then they hit a point say even a 6 or 8. Your still favored to win that roll right? its 6 to 5 in favor of you, and your going to win the max amount from it.
Is the whole house edge just on the come out roll then? because even then your only losing the minimum amount, but making a lot more when odds favor you.

house edge on any bet is calculated for the entirety of the bet....beginning to end.
    Don't pass. 1.36%

It does not get broken up into parts.

You are a 3:8 underdog to win the bet on come out.

After point is established you are either a 6/5 6/4 or 6/3 favorite.

House edge is 1.36% for the entirety of the bet.

Alright. I guess I just keep thinking about it as splitting it into parts. Losing on the come out rolls a lot, and then being favored to win the second part.
Guess that is not really right though

You can think about it any way you want. If you want to think of it as 2 parts...fine. Just understand that the 1.36% house edge (the best bet in craps) is for the entirety of the bet.

You are actually 3:8 underdog coming out, what with the push on the twelve.

    You are exactly correct oscuro.

A strong underdog for the come out roll, with 3 ways to win, 8 ways to lose, 1 way to push, and 24 ways to get behind a number as a sudden favorite, 6:5 vs. the insides, 3:2 vs. the odds and 2:1 vs. the outsides, these being the amounts required to be layed and won.

TDV is correct in that the long-hand calculation considering all possibilities shows you to be -1.36% on the DP and DC. IF you were paid on the come out 12 when playing the Don't, the Don't bettor would be favored over the house.

Since we can't have that, they push the 12 and the overall odds work against you, even on the Don'ts

As I am sure you are also aware and no doubt have experienced more than you care to, just because you are favored on the Don't once behind a number does NOT mean you have won this bet.

If the point shows before the seven you are looking for, you lose not only your line bet, but all of the odds laid as well.

Don't play the Don'ts much, but it must suck to lose from the position of the favorite, where everyone else at the table seems to be cheering at your misfortune.

It's interesting as it was brought to my attention. I thought it was James Hall....

But I may not be 100% correct....maybe in the past 2-3 months I've noticed a change. Hell maybe it's even longer than that.

    You are the board troll.

I seriously have no idea what you are trying to do by attaching "Nice try, TD" or "TD" to just about any and every post you respond to. If you notice, I used to respond to your posts because you, uh, actually posted something worth reading.

I find myself now just skipping right past anything you post...sans this one. My bad.

    Carry on.

The Duck is like a silent fart. If you can get past the smell he occasionally proffers a craps gem. I use one of his gems that he silently passed on this forum in my current betting strategy.

You know just exactly, what this is about. Exactly! :).
you know what it's about too, though I don't really see you as a "made" member of that clan. You're more of a freelancer,
