Permit me a completely offtopic -- well, maybe only almost completely offtopic -- anecdote. Sometime last year I submitted some reviews of movies to Netflix. The first one got posted, and even drew a response. The other three vanished into the ether. I waited a few weeks and resubmitted the missing -- um -- missives on the theory that a "technical difficulty" had hijacked them. Same result: zilch! I noted the last review posted to each of the movies I was trying to review, then waited a few weeks until a review was posted after the ones I had recorded to try mine again. Again nothing. The only way I could find to contact Netflix was via an 800 number, which appeared to be only for reporting/resolving connection problems. Nevertheless, I called it anyway, and was not surprised when the person to whom I spoke could not tell me why my reviews were being rejected and exhibited no enthusiasm for determining the cause. Ever undaunted I waited a few weeks and tried to submit my reviews once again. Imagine my shock when I received an error message that my review was being rejected -- and get this -- for containing the word "erotic", a word used in Netflix's own plot summary! Another of my reviews was rejected for containing the word "sex", even though a review submitted and posted prior to mine contained that word also. My guess is that, for whatever reason, a new face on the Netflix team tightened the screw. My point above, assuming I have one, is: Who guards the guards? I have expressed my opinion of the official Ignore function of this forum a few times previous: I invoke it only after careful consideration. I also unofficially ignore posters and/or threads of same who are merely annoying at times. Readers' Digest version of this post: I prefer to make my own decisions.
