One time one of my mother's friends told me she observed a craps game at a casino and wondered what all that "hey hi ho yo" meant. It's a lot to explain to the uninitiated.
Not a horn guy, I don't like that even when it hits your 3 other bets loss. Not much to it when you hit 3-yo, I rather put something on midnight once in a while. Maybe I should try aces-midnight once in a while at least it's 30-1 when it hits.
I like 10 dollar hi-lo on the come out when I play crapless. This essentially covers any hit on the 2 or 12 that my place bets would otherwise miss.
Aside from the come out hi lo.... If I'm playing a normal table... I've been known to make a horn high ace deuce bet to get paid on any natural that come during the come out phase.
Titleist, In over 1300 sessions since I began keeping records of play, save for a very occasional hard six and/or eight, and a once in a blue moon hop bet when I get a feeling, I have not bet anything in the middle of the table. Have never played a horn or a C & E in my life. Been lucky enough to have hit four or five $5-->$25-->$111--> $999 and off parlayed hardways winners, and next time the 1st one hits, I'm gonna let it all ride to try for the 5K and off.
I don't make prop bets anymore, and I would love to have all the ones I did make back! But heck, then I couldn't tell the stories about the parlayed 12 that I hit by accident, or the any craps I parlayed 4 times, or the many dozens of parlayed hard ways. But after over 50 years of playing, just the fact that I remember those rare events is testimony to their rarity!
If I do bet a horn or c&e on the come out(seldom) and happen to hit, I will press a large part of the winning $ right back...hoping for a 2 or 3 roll run...
Hitting horn bets are tough to hit. However, when they repeat and then some, it can win you a lot of scratch. My nephew hit it really big on the following horn bets about 4 years ago on one of our trips to Vegas. We were both playing in a low limit poker tournament at Mandalay Bay, he got busted out after about one hour into the tournament. I still had chips to play, He went off to play some craps. After I busted out we met up about an two hours later, Here's how he did at the table with betting horn bets. He bets pass line, shooter throws a 8 he puts odds on. He than bets 40 Dollar horn bet, shooter rolls a 3, he collects 120, and goes to 100 horn, shooter throws snake eyes he collects 675, he than presses his horn bet to 400, shooter throws an 11 he collects 1200, goes to 1000 horn, shooters throws a 12, he collects 6750. He than bets 2000 horn and 250 each hard way shooter than sevens out. I wish I was at the table to see this, but I did see the cash once in a while lightening strike.
Horn High Midnight! I always have a C bet to cover my pass line bet! It has always worked for me! I know allot of people say that it's stupid and people who make them don't know what they are doing! I beg to differ lol but I've always come out good with it and the last time I played I started pressing them and did really good, since everyone on the come out was throwing 2-3-12's left and right so was going with the table motion that I seen, but when I bet a C bet or even a C/E it's normally $1 or $2 if the min is $10. It's helped me play allot longer when everyone else is losing there pass line bets.
Horn High Yo right after crap shows during pass line come out roll and follow with a parlay or up X units. But I only do it when in the black and near goal. Caught four in a row in my last game.
A lil secret that I'm sure you all know....NEVER NEVER bet a horn high ace-deuce! Bet a $4crap $1yo instead of a $5 hhace-deuce. I'll explain $5 hh ace-deuce 2 or 12 rolls, you get paid $26, 11 you get paid $11. Ace-deuce pays $27. Now, a $4c $1e you'll get paid the same $11 on the 11, but you'll get $27 on the ace-deuce, the 2 and the 12. It's only an extra dollar, but it's that lil edge eceryone wants. If you love the horn highs, pick another one.
I'll throw out a $10 horn high 12 every so often. I'll double my bet each time hoping for four in a row. Been close to four a few times.
