I do my own thing, and have for almost 70 years...

They could never affect my play...that is why I bet
TDV $2000. he did not have a chance....

I just detest people that only have one goal, and that is
to take the fun out of everything.

    As BS777 noted...
    Go play your craps...

Stop whining because you don't get your way.

    No you don't....
You allow yourself to be miserable.

Explanations > Theories > Cognitive Dissonance

Description | Research | Example | So What? | See also | References

    Description
This is the feeling of uncomfortable tension which comes from holding two conflicting thoughts in the mind at the same time.

    Dissonance increases with:

    • The importance of the subject to us.
    • How strongly the dissonant thoughts conflict.
    • Our inability to rationalize and explain away the conflict.
Dissonance is often strong when we believe something about ourselves and then do something against that belief. If I believe I am good but do something bad, then the discomfort I feel as a result is cognitive dissonance.

Cognitive dissonance is a very powerful motivator which will often lead us to change one or other of the conflicting belief or action. The discomfort often feels like a tension between the two opposing thoughts. To release the tension we can take one of three actions:

    • Change our behavior.
    • Justify our behavior by changing the conflicting cognition.
    • Justify our behavior by adding new cognitions.
Dissonance is most powerful when it is about our self-image. Feelings of foolishness, immorality and so on (including internal projections during decision-making) are dissonance in action.

If an action has been completed and cannot be undone, then the after-the-fact dissonance compels us to change our beliefs. If beliefs are moved, then the dissonance appears during decision-making, forcing us to take actions we would not have taken before.

Cognitive dissonance appears in virtually all evaluations and decisions and is the central mechanism by which we experience new differences in the world. When we see other people behave differently to our images of them, when we hold any conflicting thoughts, we experience dissonance.

Dissonance increases with the importance and impact of the decision, along with the difficulty of reversing it. Discomfort about making the wrong choice of car is bigger than when choosing a lamp.

    Geeez.....

Somehow from reading some of these posts.... I thought I was on a Dice Dating Site.

Those who already know me, do not want to hear the same rhetoric you can read without my voice. Those who do not know me in person... you are so lucky ands fortunate. Lets keep it that way. We will all be better off as I am more into the Two for One Buffet and discussing Craps.... Not playing.

I know people use this Forum but aside from attacking each other I don't see people really interacting as much as I thought they would be .Perhaps someone will step up to the plate and answer my question ? Perhaps no one see's it because it's been awaiting approval since Monday but that's also just a hunch .

    Frankie,

I do not see a question posed anywhere in this thread by you. Perhaps you posed in another thread?

    What is your question?

https://www.google.com/search?q=cra..._AUICSgD&biw=768&bih=928#imgrc=pAB3UVfOmoQfGM: I posted a question it is post # 70 on Monday but it says it's still awaiting approval by a mod ? I posted the link here to my question and that was has anyone played around with this simulator Craps Masters 3D ? I have been using it to get used to the rules and different ways to play . I am just cutting my teeth here , I plan on going to a casino near me ,let my wife play the one armed bandit while I observe the craps table to see what goes on live . I also bought a stick of casino dice and a 3x 6 craps felt just to again get an idea of what happens . I realize my dining room table doesn't have the bounce of a real table but as I said just getting my feet wet . Thank you Comback Kid for replying and the compliment it's nice to make new friends ! All the Best , Frank

I don't understand this "approval" business. Never had to have a post "approved".
    Try reposting them.
