Funny how mom is always right....The old craps dealers told me stories of dealing 10 cent games back in the 50s and 60s.
They dealt actual dimes....LOL...They would grab a stack of dimes out of a rack. Close their hand around it. And then pay winning bets buy flipping dimes with their thumb. Talk about working hard for the money.

    Hard Way Player Only wagers.

    Place the 4 and/or 10 with $5.
    Place the 6 and/or 8 with $6.

With a $5/$6 wager on any of the Easy ways... make a $5 Hardway wager.

If the number is thrown Easy... same bet on the Hardway and rack the loose change.

If the number is thrown Hard... collect and keep the same game. Over the long run... this is still a losing game.

I always play the Hard Six and Eight with Place Bet/Pass Line bet for $5 to $10. Sometimes it pays well. Sometimes... never at all.

Playing more than $5 on each or any Hardway? Do the math. You want to cover the Hardway loss with MORE than you lost on the Soft Way winnings. Math is your friend... the Dice make us all look like fools in the process.

Smart enough to know not to bet the hard ways. The benefit of this is that I will put out only $5 or $10 once every 5 or 6 sessions.

Have had four or five turn $5 into $1300 winners with the triple hit parlays. Even if only 4 winners, I'll guarantee you I have NOT placed over a thousand dollars worth of nickels in the middle of the table, and will continue the scarcity of play there.

I don't place bet much, but a little more than the hard ways.

If there is a next time winner, I'm definitely letting the $50 sit after one hit, instead of the usual $25.

The way I look at (wrong I know), I'm only losing $5 with the loser.

The hard way method is the romanticized way of looking at craps......You go from simple $5 dollars, hard 8 hits, you press it to $50, it hits again, press it to $500, and wallah, it hits again, and you just won $5000 from a $5 bet, in around 15 rolls(not a bad 10 minutes of work).........
In reality, MOST people wouldn't have the balls after the $50 turned into $500 to press all of it anyway, so that is why the romance novel format of the 'hard ways' lives on.....

It would actually favor the REALLY drunk guy, who doesn't give a crap, and after hearing the cheers from the $450 win yells---'PRESS IT ALL BABY AND WHERES THAT DRINK AT'........Most sober folks will settle for the $450, and tell of that fish story of how close they really came to pressing it all, while the drunk actually did it....

We were dealing a 14 foot table doing a Las Vegas Night.

An insurance agent and wife were playing together. She becomes the shooter, makes point and then announced so everyone could hear:

    "Give me a hard one."

    Well, we thought it funny.

I too rarely play the hardways, but was feeling frisky this past weekend; while I had a $30 place bet on the 6 and 8 and a $50 buy bet on both the 4 and 10 (that's my usual bet every roll), I threw $10 on each of the hardways just for shits and giggles.

Every time a soft number rolled, I returned the hardway bet with the winnings from the place bet. Each time a hardway hit I would parlay it at least twice. At three different points in that session I had 3 of the hardways that were parlayed after the third hit.

Twice I had both the 6 and 8 at $1000, and a 4 at $640, the other time it was the 6 at $1000 and the 4 and 10 at $640 each. I took down the hardway bets on the first two occasions for a cool $2640 each time. I decided to let the parlay ride on the third occasion, but the hardways never hit again and a 7-out washed it away.

The adrenaline rush was tremendous and it genuinely was a "fun" way to spend an afternoon - of course I only say that because I was "lucky".;)

I typically stay off the props as a general rule. That said, I do like a $5 hard 8 and hard 6. Parlay at first hit to 50, place the number for 60 to protect it and wait for the 500 and down call.

I had a guy to my left recently throw 5 hard 8's in one hand, (over the span of 3 points). My hard 8 went something like, 5,50,100,150,250, and finally 300. Never got the 300 hit. In hind sight, I wish after the 100 hit I would have went to 200, then 500. But because I'm placing the number to cover the hard way, those presses get expensive.

I sometimes play "lotto" craps too, but not on the prop bets.

My Lotto play is a $30 six and eight, four full presses on either number and down.......either number hits 4 times, a $500 plus win, and if the other number hits a couple times also, a much bigger win.

This is usually a one time deal when I am ready to leave the table after a nice win, and have the $60 to buy the lotto ticket.

    Sometimes it works out! :)

And the odds are a lot better than the hard way parlays!

so wisdom and experience haven't beaten all the "adrenaline rush" junkie out of you then :)

I like stuff like that too sometimes, hey just go home and make dinner instead of restaurant that night and you won't see the difference :)

I do this a lot. But, after the 450, I press the hardway to 200 or so, never go all the way up.

If you are going to bet on the hardways always cover with the easy ways.

But you have to go bold if you are going to make a score. Bet a quarter hard 8 cover with 30 on the easy. Remember if the hard way hits you collect 225+35. Than go to 100/90.

If the soft hits you win 120, but you lose 100. Go to 75 hard way and keep easy at 120. If hard way hits for 675, go to 200 hard and cover 8 for 180.

Hate to be pessimistic, but the most likely result here will be -$55.

I use the $15.00...on the 4/10...then take both to both...$50.00 immediately.
It seems like when a 4/10 hits...u have a descent shot at it being hard...hopefully...

You have exactly a 1 in 3 chance of it being hard.

    That's what she said.

    Lol.

    Speaking of hardways.

Was raining hardways at greektown on Monday night, between 8pm and maybe 930pm. I hit either my hard 8 or hard 6, and one time both on EVERBODY ... this isn't for the 5G's, its for the 5-->50--->450 ones. Was nice.

Yes the hard ways were flying this weekend at both Harrahs in Murphy and Cherokee and I made allot of money off them it was awesome! Gonna try that hard soft cover method next time! Thanks for the tip guys! I only play the hard ways when I see them flying everywhere and every session is different. The last time I played a few weeks ago I played for 4 hours and only seen maybe 2-3 hard ways pop up, so I def. didn't blow my wod on them unlike other dudes who would slap out $25 and lose it almost on every roll lol! Watched a dudes bankroll disappear from making to many hard way bets...
