OK so not really a build day per se, but I have been looking at my table as I’ve been making the templates for the rails and as I look at it something just isn’t looking right on the back wall. It just doesn’t look like the photos I see on line or the tables at my local. I continued looking at it, comparing my photos to other professional modern day casino tables, photos I took over at Hollywood etc. Then it occurred to me. My boxman’s wall looks to tall. So I compared some photos closer, took a photo of my table at or close to the same angle as other photos and it was obvious mine was in fact too tall. I actually counted the rows of diamond shapes on the bumper as well and mine was well above the top row, but other modern 12ft tables it was around row 6 to 7. Also I have a buddy that actually bought a table from the Desert Inn in Vegas years ago and asked him to measure from the top of the table/felt to the top of the trim cap at the wall where the boxman sits and my was 2” to tall. I emailed the guy I talked to yesterday where I purchased my new felt from and he confirmed the height my buddy gave me. So I disassembled my table, tool the entire back wall apart, and then used my table saw to cut the wall down so that when I add the trim cap to the boxman’s wall, it will be exactly the height of the other two I inquired about! See also the addition of a trim piece I made that helps mask the board edges where the pieces meet. I think it adds a bit of a classier look to the table, and works well with the columns I added to the base legs. Overall I think the table looks much better and more correct to the tables I see at my local.
