I saw Elvis when I was in Las Vegas in November 2017. He looked pretty good for being 80+...

    Reagan getting shot
    9/11
and for some reason the OJ verdict.

People use to send a letter addressed to Elvis in Tupolo, Miss...with no stamp on it.................the post office would send it back and stamp it..." Return to Sender"

I wonder if any forum members recall Orson Welles' War of the Worlds radio broadcast on October 30, 1938 or The Beatles landing at JFK on February 7, 1964. I wasn't around for either event, but I think both would have been very memorable.

For some reason, 1980 was a big year as far as remembering where I was when something really big happened. Team USA beating the Soviet Union 4-3 in the "Miracle on Ice" on February 22 to win the Olympic gold medal. Mount St. Helens erupting on May 18. And John Lennon was murdered on December 8.

I'm still waiting on the Cleveland Indians to win a World Series during my lifetime. I'll definitely remember that if (when) it finally happens -- perhaps in 2018. The Cavs won it all in 2016. During my lifetime, Nebraska has won 5 NCs (1970, 1971, 1994, 1995, 1997) in football while Ohio State has won 3 (1968, 2002, 2014). Still not enough. As for the Cleveland Browns...uh, never mind.

    This is Barney,

Contrary to the very, very fake news, the Elvis is alive and working at the Las Vegas Harrahs. The LID took this picture of me and the Elvis during the post 2016 ACA roadtrip. He has put on a few of the pounds but he can sure sing supper.

    Thank you very much

unfortunately, my step brother took ownership of all the old photos of her and my stepfather in vegas. none were of her with elvis, just one of her getting seated right near the front, my stepfather said he tipped the maître'd 500 dollars for that table.

Happy belated birthday to the king.

I see a lot of Elvis on the RFD channel thanks to his gospel music singing stage. How wonderful it is to watch candid film of him back in his prime...

...as an aside I was surprised to learn that he made Staff Sergeant (E6) within his 2 year hitch.

I was a teenager in the '70's. Elvis wasn't "Cool". I didn't pay much attention.

Later in life I've really grown to appreciate him, his music, and his impact on American culture. His politics were quite conservative, which is a big plus for me.

His affinity to and identity with Las Vegas only adds to the allure now for me. Tragic the way it ended for 'the King'.

I probably listen to an Elvis tune on YouTube at least once a week now. Here's one of my favorites....
