No, no such bets exists as of today...
Both Joliet Illinois Joints pay Triple on The 12
That used to be pretty standard, but now a lot of places (including my local casino, Cache Creek) pay only double on both, doubling the HA. Of course, to get a 0 HA they have to pay triple on both 2 and 12.
<sigh>...triple 12 ( or 2) is fairly common, if no longer standard...no. I am looking for triple on BOTH the 2 and the 12...now not so long ago I would have thought it absurd to even ask such a thing...but that was before I encountered free buys on the 4 & 10, this now at at least 4 different casinos, including one that has offered it for about 10 years or more...plus the free field was apparently available at the santa ana casino in albuquerque as recently as early this year...but no longer <sigh>...tom p
As I understand it, the 'Mill in Reno was 1st in the state to institute buy and lay bets where the "juice" isn't owed unless the bet is a winner. If they've begun charging zero vig its news to me. If so, this is an excellent betting method for the customers, although 0%...still, no 5% tariff...not bad.
zero vig on 4 & 10 place bets has been available at turtle creek in Michigan for about 10 years, no mere temporary promotion...albuquerque nm is apparently the "hotbed" for this free bet with at least 3 area casinos offering it as of last month (route 66, santa ana, isleta...possibly more)...I meant to but forgot to ask (at rt 66) if the lay bets on these numbers were also free...I plan on moving through albuquerque again later this month or in march, will head for rt 66, which also has 20x odds and $1 minimum until 6pm ($3 after that; this info is about a month old), possibly one of the best deals in craps anywhere...I will try to remember to ask about the lay bets on the 4 &10 then...still looking for that free field!...tom p
As far as a short-term promotion, I stand abject and humbled from my earlier opinion. The joints you're discussing either a) have REAL strong volume or b) concluded that they could live with a slightly smaller HA. It certainly sounds as if this Rt. 66 in N.M is willing reach out for new business. It does my poor ol' burnout heart good to see joints in newer markets be aggressive in a good way...player oriented.
I will be very interested to hear if there is no vig on the 4|10 lay bets. My current guess is that the casinos offering the free buys are figuring those bets are underdogs to win, which gives the casino with its much larger bankroll an advantage against the player.
My experience, mostly at the michigan place, but borne out last mo in nm too, is that for the most part the vast majority of players bet the 4 & 10 NO MORE than they otherwise would at these tables, testament to its success as an effective loss leader...on the other hand my shout out on this thread and other forums has uncovered no extant free field bet while at the same time revealing such a promotion has been tried and quite recently too...my own speculation is that the free field attracted not just players but too much money, money that might have otherwise been risked at other bets and so was discontinued...by my reckoning, rudeboy, your "earlier opinion" was quite sound: I was myself flabbergasted when I first encountered the free 4 & 10...tom p
I suspect too that the free lay is not offered but doubt that would be the reason...I will definitely make it a point to ask when I am back there again next month...tom p
Hook up with another player that is making a lot of come/don't come bets with NO odds.... Work out a deal where he places odds as your bet.... You get the fair game without the come/don't come risk.... There, you have the best game you can possibly achieve.
If he's a prick, the deal will work much better for him than for you. The dealer will see it as his money. What recourse do you have here? How is it going to play out for you when you tell the suits that all you were doing was avoiding the HE-generating contract bet and playing the game 50-50 with them?
It seems to me that the casino would need variance, just as the player would need variance, to decide which would win or lose. It is a "fair" bet, and variance can favor either party, so taking the players as an aggregate, I don't see how the house would expect to do better than break even. If all players only made one free lay bet, win or lose, when you factor in all players, they have a joint bankroll that can easily compete with the casino's bankroll......I think.
The point is not relevant, I was simply stating a fact about the bet.... besides the deal could be that you place his come/don't come bets for him, that way you get to place your own odds bet on it.. every time you make the bet, he hands you the chips, every time bet is paid, you simply pay him....works till someone disagrees....... the point was, here is the only way to get the fair bet in craps without any HA..... how you accomplish it and with who, that is another issue....
Frank Scoblete called taking/laying odds on another player's flat PL/DP/C/DC bet "The Oddsman's Bet". My thoughts thereon are at http://midnightskulker.casinocitytimes.com/article/the-oddsmans-bet-revisited-58999.
Nice article. When ever I hear of people talking about getting "free" odds by using another players line bet, I just stop and scratch my head, and say, HU? The advantage gained for the possible hassle, is so minimal as to almost be ridiculous in my opinion. It would be different if you were able to employ that strategy on every bet, every time you played, but that is not reality at all. For the once in a while thing, factored in with your overall play, it ends up being insignificant to me. Also, I need positive variance to come out ahead on the odds bets, when that happens, I would actually be better off making my own line bets, and get the benefit of the comeout roll in addition to qualifying for the odds. And what are my expected savings if I do happen to find an opportunity? Lets say I am able to find that opportunity 10% of my playing time, which I think is high, using $5 line bets, average 30 decisions per hour, my expected loss on the line bets is about $2, if I save 10% of that, I average saving 20 cents per hour. If I am a diehard, and never bet the line, just hang around and wait for opportunities to get my "free" odds, I guess I could expect to save the whole $2 per hour....I tip a lot more than that! I just can not wrap my head around the "free" odds strategy, even with higher line bet amounts. Just my thoughts on the subject.
The field is a bad bet 16 ways to win 20 to lose a little over a5% house advantage unless you are playing the ironcross then betting field is a must but I don't recommend playing the ironcross in a live game.So stay away from field bets
He's asking about paying triple on the 2 and 12. If found, the house edge is 0%
Yes they do have that you can find that in a casino on planet poptart its in Orion's belt I hope you crush it good luck
Not true. Casino near Albuquerque offered it for many years. Last time I checked, that's earth.
