    --WARNING! LOGORRHEA AHEAD--
that is certainly not my perception.

if anything "slightly" the opposite is the case...vile name-calling and casting aspersions on others' personal character has been heavily put down & criticized on this forum--not so much quite recently maybe but not that long ago either...

IMO this has had some good, overall effect in the tone of the forum...true, slight maybe but noticeable...to be frank or iidsm some of my own posts have possibly helped with this---occasionally using (& often missed) seriously biting sarcasm even.

ok...let's use james hall as an example...lol...he is one of my favorite peoples on here (not being facetious) even though we disagree on just about everything and my point is far from exclusive to him but he does provide not just a marvelous foil but a good example.

compare his early posts---especially his earliest---from last year to those since his return...Day and Night...he came on here with the idea of helping people and while many on here like, say, liman might not agree, i believe that he was genuinely sincere in this.

being at that time apparently (obviously in my mind) unfamiliar with public forums, i believe that he was genuinely surprised with the push-back that he received for his efforts to help. his reaction, among others, was some pretty viscous personal attacks.

while he would likely demur, i believe the criticism of this behavior had its affect on him and he tempered this a bit over time and upon his return has damn near eliminated it...this was somewhat hit and miss with post-to-post schizoidal (nice guy-ass) tendencies that seem to be completely gone since his return (pretty much all nice guy).

o, sure, he still puts down others' IDEAS, almost always with mis-attributions made up in his own delusional mind (rendering his premises as false & thus his points invalid) and sometimes, sure, completely makes up curious, sometimes hilarious, notions about the emotional state and the aspect of his tormentors (they are "angry" or "lose sleep over..." or "can't stand..." & many others i can't remember off the top of my head...lol) but he has tempered greatly the personal attacks (imo...he himself and unfortunately many others on this forum confuse disagreement with "attacks").

frankly i think he has virtually eliminated personal attacks with the same being so or nearly so for others here...they have been tampered down at least.

    ------------------------------------------

your second point was that threads stayed "on topic" more in the past than they do now.

i think that might be true but again only quite marginally...any thread over 5 pages then or now does not stay on topic...this too is so for virtually all public forums of any sort.

i must say though that 12s linked here recently to a few-years-old, forum thread that ran over 20 pages that amazingly, for the most part, though not completely, stayed on topic...i said to myself, "boy, you just don't see that much anymore"

your one sentence post brought up some incredibly important topics and my incessant blathering on and on and on and on is justifiable. right? (ok...being facetious)

however unlikely, it is even possible that lid has read this far, such is its importance and the sparkling cleverness of its iteration.

I agree, a casino does not need to cheat to win...it certainly
would not be worth the effort to get caught.

Having said that, I have seen more than one card counter asked
not to play BJ in a casino......they were not cheating, they were
winning more than other players.... why do you think many casino's
not have BJ games less favorable to card counters.... deeper cuts
do so a plyer has fewer hands to count and fewer hands to bet on
    if the count is positive.

The larger and more bouncy pyramids on craps tables, the very bouncy
back walls were not placed there by accident...they were changes made
I feel as result of players that use the PARR or GTC shot,

The one sentence you hear every where if a player is a GTC shooter is
hit the back wall.... If your shot is decent, the back wall does not mess you up if the table has the smaller pyramids or is less bouncy, you
take that same shot to the M and see what happens or to Keshena
    here in Wisconsin.

To be real honest.. for me I want as many dice setters out there as I
can get....the vast majority will put in no effort other than one class and lose, that makes it look like no setter can win....

But even then, the industry itself will trend to being safe and it harder and harder to over come the HA with your shot alone

Make no mistake even an honest casino has a significant edge, and they will do all they can to protect that edge.
