    Fellow Crapsforum.com Members:

We're in the process of organizing casino reviews that have been submitted within the past year. At some point, a sticky will be created in the Casino Review section so it will be easy to find links to the reviews. For now, post #1 (above) in this thread is the page with links to the indexed casino reviews.

This project is in its infancy. We're in need of casino reviews to add to the list that have already been received. You can help make this a very useful resource for members.

    1. How can you help?

By starting a new thread in Casino Reviews section and submitting a review for your home casino(s) and other casinos you visit. Use a new (separate) thread for each casino if there isn't already a link to a review for that casino. In addition, if you visit a casino that already has a review (including one you submitted), take a few minutes to verify if anything has changed and should be updated. If so, make note of it in the thread for that casino's review.

Appreciate it if you can maintain the Thread Title in the following format when submitting a new review:

    Casino Name -- City, State

I will update the sticky with a link to a new review.

Please do *NOT* add a review to this thread. Start a new thread or add a new post to one of the linked threads to update information for that casino.

    2. What information should be provided in a review?

A spreadsheet template in a zipped file is attached to this post. Feel free to use/modify the template to suite your needs.

The "Template" worksheet (tab) is used for the data inputs you gather.

The "Example" worksheet (tab) is an example of a review I am putting together. You can also look at the link for a casino to see the review that has been posted to the forum. Note that some of the older reviews contain a older version of the template; those will be upgraded in the future. The 2 comments sections in the latest version of the template can be very helpful.

The "Minimum Report' worksheet (tab) has cells highlighted in green. These cells contain information I think (at a minimum) should be included in every review. Of course, the more completely filled out the template, the more helpful I think the report will be.

The "Copy Paste" worksheet (tab) includes a one (1) cell border around the template. I have included a one (1) cell border for consistency purposes. I select the finished review with the border and then Copy | Paste the review into Windows Paint. I then save the file as a .PNG or .JPG file and upload that file to the forum.

Below is the "Minimum Report" worksheet (tab) with the green highlighted cells:

    Example.png

Most of the green highlighted items (as well as other items on the template) should be self-explanatory.

    1. The reason I included location (inside/outside of casino) for the steakhouse, buffet and other venues is because of minimum age requirements to enter the casino floor. For example, if the buffet is located inside of the casino, it will likely accessible only by those age 21 & over. This might be something to consider for a family traveling with children under 21.

    2. The parking garage (yes/no) is included because in the Midwest (and other parts of the country), there are often storms that produce good size hail. Sometimes it's good to park the car in a casino's garage (if available), especially if storm activity in the area is likely.

    3. The field "Standalone Facility for Restaurants (Yes/No) applies to riverboats and to a lesser degree, older stationary boats. Those vessles often included a separate pavilion (land-based or barge) that housed restaurants and non-gaming essentials so that precious space on the riverboat/stationary boat could be devoted to EGDs and table games. This also affects those under 21.

Thanks in advance to your ongoing support of this effort.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks, far out. Perhaps some of the members who visit casinos in that part of the country can assist with reviews of casinos in New England. That's a part of the country I really haven't visited in a while. Hope to get there in a few years once MGM Springfield and Wynn Boston Harbor open for business, though.

@far out I'm heading up there next Tuesday evening and may be there for part of the day on Wednesday. I'm sad to learn they don't have this bet anymore! It's listed on their website: http://www.hollywoodcasinobangor.com/Casino/Tables/Bonus Craps

They were not making enough money on the bet, so the raised the tax from 7% to 20%! Many fools will continue to throw money at it!

Again I say, love those odds! Imagine hitting a 250/25000 four or ten. All it takes is one roll. Well, maybe two.

That would be great to hit. However, it would have to be a really great roll before I bet that amount of money.

Maybe Michael Jordan or our president would go out for that kind of money from the start, but not me either.

On a $5 table, I'd want to be ahead by about 1K before I would put out a 5/500. If it missed the target, I'd be done for the session, but an outside winner would have me next putting out 10/1000 and again hoping for the best.

Speaking of betting amounts, the place I played at one time up in the Allegheny Mountains a few months ago, table limit was $500, obviously much less than this on the higher paying sucker bets.

If it wasn't the only place in town, and if I wasn't otherwise bored to death, I would have never traveled to this place to play. Gambling is NOT why I was there, but since I was there, I gambled.

Why would anyone buying in with large amounts of money have any interest in playing on such a low limit table? It would be crazy to do so. Seems to me that one should know in advance minimum and maximum bets allowed, and maximum odds, before committing to play somewhere away from home.
