never really thought the day would come when 3 casinos would close within 2 weeks of each other.
I guess now atlantic hotels will skyrocket their room rates and cut back on the freebies.
Im sure the other casinos will pick up most of the customers.

Not if their smart, but who knows corporate America doesn't always do the right thing! If they are stupid and raise their rates you might see a few more casinos closing down!

Atlantic City really doesn't have that much to offer, and now with casinos popping up all around them, they are still going to be fighting for their life! Why would someone traveled to AC when they are getting a better deal right in their back yard. There has to be some incentives for any out-of-town player to travel to Atlantic City! Right now the way I look at it is they have none!

    It does show one thing.
Vegas, although suffering a bit also, still continues to build, and expand, some go broke, so never make it to completion, but hotels and casinos go up out there, and crowds still flock there.
Atlantic city, never got the reputation anywhere close to vegas.
It was not the las vegas of the east.

It did a lot of business only because for 30 years there was zero competition. The most heavily populated cities on the east coast, and their only gambling options without taking a 5 hour airplane flight was AC.
As competition increased, AC started to go downhill.
That in itself says something about why theres something wrong with AC.
It has a beach, a boardwalk, now an outlet center, but nothing will save it.
Its still there only because NYC has been too stupid to allow casinos here.
I don't know whats south of AC, if the DC area has any casinos, but if NY and DC put in some full casinos, I suspect no more than 3 casinos will survive in AC.
Its demise is a direct reflection on the increasing competition.

vegas, in the middle of nowhere, not near any large cities, held strong even with every city in the world getting casinos, it still a hot destination for people, and always will be.

Liman even though Vegas is in the middle of no where, we still have a lot besides the casinos going for us. I try to point out some of the things that you can do when you come to Vegas besides staying in the casinos 24/7.

If you into shows we have the top entertainers and shows, if your into the great outdoors we have the Grand Canyon, over in Arizona that you can do in a day trip if you are really pressed for time. We have Lake Mead national Park, Red Rock Canyon, the Valley of fire, that are all day trips, and lets not forget Death Valley! Then you have all of the national parks over Utah:

Check out Bryce Canyon, and Zion, then you also have the state parks in Utah, a nice day trip would be

Snow Canyon and Gunlock that are only about 20 miles apart!

You can always check out what I post here on the board that I help run as to other things to do around Vegas, where I try to get the guys to see something besides the inside of the casinos when to come to Vegas. If you have any questions about what else you can do when in Vegas you can always PM me here or on the other board!

In a couple of sessions at the Trump Plaza sometime around 1989, left the Donald every penny I came with for a 3-day trip in about 3 hours. Oh well, at least the girlfriend didn't run out on me. Hmmm, girlfriends were more fun than wives, but probably not as smart.
