Big Wins, everybody should have seen one I hope and made money on one when it was happening! This isn't about my big wins because some on this board would say they never happened and that they were just Anecdotal Claims, so be it because it just doesn't matter! What most on this board don't get is everything you write are all Anecdotal Claims in some of the guy's eyes on this board even if you wrote about something that they saw with their own eyes! So, I will tell you about just one of my wins that sticks in my mind where I was really stupid but caught up in the moment. I had just hit a five-point fire bet and everyone on the table passed the dice back to me. That is something that you don't get to see too often, no most of the time someone wants to shoot even after they stood there and watch you have a fifty roll. So, let me cut to the chase, the same thing happen two more times and they were ready to pass the dice back to me once again when I said no! So, I had three back to back to back five point fire bets wins. The stupid thing was that I couldn't go back into that casino without every suit standing there watching what I was doing. I learned my lesson after that day if you want to be welcome back you can't try to kill the casino! Now, on to the good stuff, we all should have seen one good win or more. The one that sticks in my mind is one that happened at the Sahara casino early one morning. I didn't catch the roll because I walked in as the guy was coloring up. The guy had five plastic chip racks that they bring chips to the table to carry all of the chips he won. I've always said that God protects drunks and babies and this guy was so drunk that two guards had to help him walk away from the table. The suit cut off his play by saying he was too drunk to play. After he walked away the dealers told me that he just couldn't do anything wrong. Whatever he bet on he won and was just taking stacks of chips when he was betting without counting them out. Okay, you have two of my stories I have much more because I play craps all of the time but as I said at the start this thread is not about me. So, I'm giving it over to you guys to hear some of your stories on big win's that you had or saw. We all have a different definition of a big win for some of you your big win might have been only $100 but let's hear about it if that was your biggest win you ever had or saw!
SR I have a number of very good stories from the past year or so, but remember it was you that kept telling me to get off this site... so I cant... tdb
Yep, you got that right you are better off just going to the casinos and taking their money without posting on this board because don't you know you can't win at craps?
Sr Ok so now I understand....I was confused.. it is ok if you win as long as you don't tell anyone you won. You sure as hell don't want to tell anyone you won playing craps......on a craps site... But I think it is ok if you win playing craps as long as you indicate if you ever do win it is luck. tdb
I think you got it man. It's known as "TDs Postulate of craps". Oh yeah, and you know who, "likes it".
Everybody keeps talking about LUCK can someone please define it and tell me where the power that guides it comes from One of the definitions in the dictionary says "It is a power that causes good things and bad things to happen 1) what is the power 2) how does this power work I think we need to settle this question once and for all My Gawd it took over a year and 1/2 to settle the question that the come bet Sucks so let's not let this question of LUCK continue to linger someone anyone
Well MR Hall, gravity is invisible, cannot be captured or avoided, yet we can be sure that it is there. You cannot hide anything from it, it can "see" into any containment, and measure the content exactly. In nature there are many forces, and we do not understand all of them. We do not even have a definition for "LIFE" that fits everything. I do not know what luck is, but I know that I've "slept" with her, and I know that she has stood me up at times. What "skill" caused you to be a Texan? Holly was a Texan, and like yourself, very proud of it. But that was "luck". You see? What if you had been born in say, Jersey?
But for the grace of "Lady Luck", YOU could have been MsPee. I bet you feel "lucky" now, don't you "EBENEZER HALL".
Table Tops 123 and possibly FredP's old friend Buddy A Hall celebrates LID's big win at the Metropolis last night.
Mr. Duck You are what you make yourself out to be. There are many that are born into some of the worst conditions imaginable and through hard work and never giving up they come out of poverty or get away from abusive parents or anything else that can be thrown at them. All of the local children in our neighborhood are growing up in the worst school system in the nation. The ones that like fast cars I tell all of the time if they like our cars they have to stay in school and do the right things for themselves if they want to own one when they grow up! You have to have an open mind in anything that you do if you want to succeed in life and the same thing goes for craps. If you keep doing the same stupid thing over and over again you will never be a winner at the game. There are many things that will help you succeed in life one of them is never giving up. You can't be afraid of failure like most on this craps board are. You can't be afraid of trying new things! You have to have a positive mental attitude. Don't let anybody tell you that you can't do it. You need to be able to put the time into anything that you want to do and work hard at doing it! If it's not working try a different way of doing it! Seek out and get help from someone that has been down the same path that you are trying to go down and don't be afraid to ask questions!
Yeah, age makes ya pretty ugly. Buddy is around 300 lbs these days. If ya had met him in the 60's, or early seventies, he was razor thin. Always a tall fella, but very, very thin. Don't know if you know any "Players", but Roger Griffis died ( he's the guy that cocked his head to the right prior to releasing his shot), & my Old buddy Scotty Townsend died not too long ago in a Motorcycle accident. Scotty loved the alcohol, & also a few "Exotic" things as well. There was a spot in Riverdale, Georgia back in the early 90's called the Wagon Wheel pool Hall. I once saw Scotty bet a guy $300 that he could split a Cue Ball with just one stroke with his bare hand. Scotty was drunk. He lost the bet, & broke his hand in the Process. THAT was Scotty for ya. Something about those Louisiana Poll players. Tough as nails, but often times drunk, & brainless.
I have very little recollection of my pool playing days in the 70s and 80s but the Roger Grifiss name rings a bell but not Scotty Townsend. I did run across a Scot Smith in the 70s in of all places near Mesa, Az. I played a bit in Vegas in the 70s and 80s and if I recall I was invited to a US open tournament at Caesars in the early 80s but never went. What was the last straw in my pool playing period was the 1991 ESPN International Tournament of Champions at the Mirage. Betting for this tournament was allowed on the players and I had a little bet on Buddy Hall (not Buddy Asshall). As far as I know it was the only pool match on national tv that showed that grand pool practice of dumping. Buddy obviously dumped to Mike Lebron in the finals. After that match I decided to just focus on blackjack and later craps to dump money.
They changed the layout during my winning session to throw me off my game. It's a typical casino heat move when you are winning.
Probably the same dictionary which states that ALL Casino Games are Games of Chance ! YOU were a " Dealer " - therefore YOU know that the Casino Games can NOT be beat ! I was NOT a dealer - therefore - I believe that the Casino Games can BE beaten ! IF - the PROPER " techniques " are employed ! However, that is solely " CONJECTURE " on MY part ! $...eE..$
Oh, $...eE..$, don't you see the problem here OAP was trained by the casino's guys like you weren't so you know that you can beat the casinos. That because you don't play by the math of the game like most try to do!
Yep, you're talking about Scott Smith. He plays pretty sporty, but couldn't "cut the mustard", & ended up being a Superb tournament referee. The tournament that you are speaking of was won by Buddy Hall. He defeated Spanish Mike LeBron in the finals. Mike LeBron used to be Efren's little bitch. I remember when Efren first came over from the Phillipines, & used to play in Chicago at the Chicago Billiards Cafe with a $10 Pool Cue. Freddy the Beard, Romberg, Rocket man, Tom Karabotsos, Bugs, Tough Tony Brewer, George Michaels, Mark Jarvis, Billy Incardona, Tom Spencer, Piggy, Johnny Boy, & the whole Chicago contingent used to hang out there after Bensingers closed down. Remember, Chicago was pretty segregated back in the 70's, & Freddy the Beard was the ONLY white pool player that could play pool in the African American Pool Hall's in Chicago without getting mugged.
