Yep. My year is also off...while the cratering started in 2008, I believe it was early 2009 that both saw their lows. It was a tough time to invest because there were literally hundreds of companies at risk of bankruptcy that were sound only a year or so prior.

It was reported that Harry Reid's wife borrowed a 5 iron from the wife of Tiger Woods
and beat old Harry about the head and neck with it
The report said that with every hit she called him a dork and a doofis
They later recanted the story saying it was a sand wedge

NO doubt craps can be beaten, in fact it is because of
craps that I am a millionaire.

I told that story many times at the table when people would
ask if you can make money on this game....Then one day
a guy said it is great that your a millionaire after playing
the game of craps.....what were you before...and I had to
    say I was a multi millionaire !!!!!

I do think craps can be beaten, but the idea of making a
living on the game has nothing really to do with the game,
it has to do with you. You would have to have nerves of
steel to withstand the ups and downs, and a shot that was
excellent, and have the discipline to play only on tables
you can beat and then only when you were serious.

Then when you start to win most times, they wont allow
    you to play anymore....

I think you can make more at Mc Donalds

You would need a very hefty bankroll also. Regarding NOT allowing you to play if you are beating them......I dont buy that, simply because there are too many venues to play at. You simply move your play around.....Problem solved.

Wherein you MIGHT get into trouble.....is with Ridiculously sized bets, & a toss that was painstakingly obvious that you WERE beating them. ( Overstating your welcome doesn't help either)
Otherwise.....it's business as usual. Come one, come all, bet whatever ya like, but don't forget to hit the back wall with BOTH dice each, & every time!!!!!

We've had one guy here who claimed to be playing craps for a living....

He was backed up by several here as "truth".

Last report was he went broke, lost everything and his bed was a car seat.

Don't people learn from these outlandish claims?

It's nice to dream...but on this one I'm sure. No one can make a living playing craps. A bigger bankroll is nice. It will let you stay in "making a living" mode a lot longer than $100 will. You can keep this game darn close, even over the long haul....but regular money? Nah. Try poker.

Suggesting one can make it a living is almost as funny as a team of dice influencers living 5 hours from the nearest venue.

Moving your play is not as easy as it sounds...you are not going
beat every table you play on, there are very few that would fit your
shot well enough to always win.

I know Dom and a couple of the GTC guys play together, and they
all shoot the same, and they bet pretty big, and they seem to keep
playing so either they dont win as much as they seem to indicate or the very large casino's know they will come out in the end anyway.

Negative!!! Moving your play around is not as easy as it seems, because ya can't beat every table? Lol

Please tell me that you are joking. Really? Okay, let's biodegrade things....Just in Vegas alone....there are over 300 tables. So.....out of 300 tables, ya can't find 5-10 tables that you can beat regularly? ( Now, this is assuming that you have a VALIDATED advantage). Next you have Biloxi, Shreveport, Tunica......SO MANY places to " Scout" for the tables of your " liking"!

Listen....you only need MAYBE 10 -15 Venues WORLDWIDE that you can hit maybe once or twice a month. If you REALLY have a skill, you don't really have to play much anyways. ( Right James?) Lol.

On a more serious note...the route that I WOULD GO is 15 Venues, hitting EACH one once a month for modestly sized bets, & extremely short sessions. $360 -$600 inside...win 2-3 very short sessions of roughly $3-$500, & exit the Casino.
From there.....on to the next destination.

Of course, this only exists in a perfect world wherein you TRULY had THE SKILL.

All of this BULLSHIT about being banned, not finding venues to fit your toss, getting heat, etc. I DONT BUY IT!!!

The world is just too large to NOT be able to travel, hit, & run, & completely " Mask" your SKILL.
Tell ya what....I would absolutely LOVE to have the so-called Problem of NOT having a place to play/suit my toss. I guarandamtee ya that if I HAD THE SKILL....I'd find a solution.....REAL FAST!!!!

Regarding " Masking" SKILL....there are " Other" less conventional tosses that look TOTALLY random, & work just as good/better than GTC, PARR, UNDERHAND, LITTLE JOE, HELICOPTER, etc.

Here's the deal.....once I proved to myself that I had an advantage...the VERY FIRST THING I would do is to develop a shot that blended in with Freddy the Flinger, Random Randy, & all of the other players that just pick em up, & fling em.
    Once THAT is accomplished....PRINT MONEY.

I was talking real world here based on 40 years of experience and 10 hard years
    of dice setting play.

How many tables can you beat consistently????? I mean consistently enough to bet
    your family income upon.

It is one thing to play a what if game, it is another to do it.

REAL world? You mean to tell me that a person with a VALIDATED skill CANNOT find 10-15 tables in this BIG, WIDE, WORLD that they can beat?

I dont know every player in the world, I only know the ones I know.

If you find the guys that can do it, great.

I dont have the skill level or the mental discipline to even think about making
a living at the game. I have a hard enough time just to play like I do and keep
    my head above water.

There is a way to make a living at craps. but sadly no one wants to do it.

If there is a way to make a living playing craps....there would be plenty of people who would want to do it.

This would be akin to saying there is a way to make a living playing poker....but sadly no one wants to do it.

    We know that's not true...by the 1,000's.

I only know of one guy who claimed to make his living playing craps. That turned out to be a crock of crap.

These people are all taking the introductory class on how to make a living playing Craps. Unfortunately for them, they’re not in Mesa.

Billy, I think the problem with guys that practice tossing the dice is that they THRIVE on beating a table/s.
Now, I practice tossing the dice, but my goal is to quickly get ahead, & to quickly head to the cage.
Is this advantage play? No, but one thing that I will NOT do is to continuously stand at a table & toss hand after hand, because I CAME TO PLAY!

I did NOT come to play. Yep...sounds ridiculous, but I CAME TO LEAVE as soon as possible.

Ya see....guys that practice their toss at home want to see how they fare in the Casinos. I don't!!!
Don't care to see if my toss is working or not. What matters to ME is how quickly can I leave with a decent win.
Can I do it in only one hand? If so.....GREAT!!! I'm at the Cage cashing out, while you Dice Influencing guys are adjusting " Sets", landing zones, discussing craps, etc.
I'm just a guy that enjoys tossing dice to TRY to get an edge, but I certainly KNOW what happens when you stick around at a table tossing hand after hand JUST BECAUSE you drive two hours to get there, so you want to play. You want to get " your " Craps fix"!
I could care less about driving two hours just to get a " Craps fix". I get my craps fix at home.
It is no easy feat to consistently win at Craps. Once/if I get a rope around the Casino's throat.....To the cage!!!!

Before my introduction to dice influencing (on the Usenet news group) I had taken to using a split fingered grip (with a one die between my index and middle fingers, and the other die between my middle and ring fingers) after learning that the dice had to be kept in the stick's sight. The advantages of that grip were 1) I found I could keep the dice on the table virtually 100% of the time, and 2) I was immediately recognized by dealers everywhere I played after the first time even if there had been a long time between visits. After getting into DI it was quite easy to adapt my delivery to this grip. Indeed no dealers batted an eye, and I almost hurt myself patting myself on the back for how brilliantly I had camouflaged my new skill. Unfortunately I took me quite a while to recognize a second reason for the lack of attention dealers were paying me: I had also camouflaged the skill itself! My point is that adapting a shot to look like those of the randies has to sacrifice at least some influence IMHO, and therefore some advantage. IOW it's easier said than done.
But is that validated skill sufficient to permit that player to continue to live off it while also traveling the world?

Those are some very good points, Midnight. I will address the first point....Masking SKILL with a unconventional toss. Nope, I don't think you sacrifice any amount of skill by developing a random LOOKING toss. Why? Simply because there are tosses that are actually better/just as effective as The " School taught" tosses.

Personally, I have witnessed ( G) toss a few of them that......if I didn't know any better....I would call a Sack of Shit, but....boy, oh boy......they are extremely effective.
To address your second point...Your guess is as good as mine. One thing is certain....Every professional hits some pot holes, & rough patches.

Playing craps as a SOLE source of income is highly unlikely, but as Supplemental Income?...... Maybe!!!!!! If one decides to pursue the Dice Influencing path......make sure you pack a hefty lunch!
