Yes the bane of DI ers everywhere. A microfiber surface with a soft underlay. Now I am not talking about those closed cell foam underlays where the dice bounce off the table. You do not play them period

Those that are playable or look playable on a normal toss the sharp edges of your dice catch in the underlay and all hell may break loose.Am I right?

I use MP' s low, slow, and easy toss. Had great success with that 5 pointer. Why does it work? Mostly because the dice seem to glide on the micro never digging in and catching.Try it and see for yourself.

Hmmmm......let me guess. The next thread will be "How to use the Skipping Stone Toss that rarely digs into the Micro Fiber tables for the Second rate talents". Lol

    Dave-

Did you ever give using a diagonal grip with the underhand toss any thought -

I am not that familiar with micro-fiber but gripping the dice on the diagonals as opposed to the flat surface -

Should add more forward spin on the dice and hopefully thwart / reduce the impact that the micro fiber material imparts on the dice !

This also works quite well on conventional layout material !

    Just a suggestion !

I was on a diagonal grip trip that lasted a couple of months.Liked it and you are right you get more revs.Still practice it but went back to my old grip mainly because it produced more Primary hit results.
So now it is another viable tool for inside numbers using the 3- V.

Good question.I call it the Yuri grip

IF it works for the 3V to produce INSIDE #'s -

IT should be as effective using the 2V for OUTSIDE #'s !

    ALL things being EQUAL !

If you use an on axis grip or shot like GTC you have 4 faces on each die to remember
and worry about. If you use an inline shot you only have 4 total.

Lets say for on axis I set 5/4 5/4 , I can have a so called on axis finish with a
5,2,4,3 on either die in any combination. .Now the dice hit and end up 3/5 , the
way the dice bounce your right die may have started out as your left so it is
hard to balance where the dice ended in relationship to where they started.

An in line shot is much easier because if I set say 2/4 4/2 and I watch the
front die until it stops, I instantly know where those numbers were in my
original set. I can then make adjustments that make a difference.

I don't try to snipe numbers and I don't believe in some so called advantage
player constant advantage which allows you to make millions.....

I do think if your throw is repeatable enough you can make an adjustment
in set to take advantage of the way your shot is that day.... make some money
and go home before you think your Dominator and lose it all.

I May need to try some low slow skip type toss to beat theae things. My normal High float toss seemed very tough to land today with all the bounce. How do you know if you are up against those closed cell foam underlays that you talk about ?

You will know it. Dice bounce off the table quite easily and you have no control what so ever

If the dice hop, pop up, & bounce erratically from left to right taking all kinds of weird bounces....you are playing on closed cell foam. If you land the dice 2-3 inches in front of the back wall, & the dice fly back to the prop box area....you are playing on closed cell foam.

Cork, rubber, & closed cell foam are easy to detect because not only do ya get tremendous bounce....the bounce is also very erratic, & bounces very weird from left to right, & all over the table.

Ya have to be careful with lowering the trajectory too, because the dice dig into the layout, bounce erractically, & never make it to the back wall.
If you can picture tossing two dice on a trampoline.....that's pretty much what you get with closed cell foam.

If ya think closed cell foam is a nightmare...just wait until you encounter that fu**ked up Cork, & rubber that some Casinos use.

When ya think about it.....it's really a trade-off for the Casinos that use the aforementioned materials. They thwart the controlled tosses, but they get waaaayyyy less rolls per hour, because the friggin dice are always flying off of the table ( Especially when a shooter is tossing from Straight out).

Thank You TableTop very informative. I think I may have been up against the closed cell foam you are talking about today. I didn’t have any bounce off the table. But definitely left to right ... The 2-3 inch and they come flying back sometimes very unprrictable. I made some adjustment and went very light with my normal toss and had some reasonable success including one Great Roll. Lucky to break even after all that nonsense.

My dream table is gone. Going to be switching casinos again and probably play more poker. Have to gear up for Vegas though , I expect to find a variety of surfaces out there .

    TOUCH the LAYOUT !

PRESS DOWN with your fingers and / or KNOCK on the table surface -

The " SUREST " way to determine what the surface and the underlayment is like !

Also by running your finger tips over the layout you can readily know if its' micro fiber or felt !

The LAST thing you want to do is ASK any of the casino personnel -

They are unsavory people and do NOT speak the truth !

I do not mind micro but I don't like the silent killers- micro with an underlay which when the dice hit you hear a soft tap. Those tables can wreck havoic especially with an OH toss.Come to think it is no picnic with the UH either lol

I think I know a way to beat it.I am working on an underhand " torque" shot where I start the release form early resulting in more spin and when they hit initially they arc in low flight and track true to the BW and only slightly rebound. It is a higher energy shot which I have tried in practice but am dying to try in live play.
    Will let you guys know.

I will give that a try. A couple of months ago, I used a 3/2/1/2 set with a Yuri grip, from SL1, landing dice in the center of the pass line, on a bouncy table, using a slow, fairly low throw......for a 30+ roll.

You should also practice a lot from sl2-3. As you can’t count on always having a sl1 spot. Personally I adjusted my throw to it and now I almost prefer it to sl1. Tho my best shot is sr1-2, it’s always a bigger limit on sr in my home casino.
