For what purpose?
Yes TD you are like that guy at the pawn shop. He researches the item and makes. a determination of its value and demand. Then the bastard low balls the client and tries to steal it. L OL
It's a pawn shop, Dave. The moment you walk in, you're screwed. Expecting to get anything close to value for your Rolex at 2 am---in Vegas---on the Strip? You need your head examined.
It's one step above payday loan shops.
I shouldn't have to tell you this, but some people are just ass holes, do I need to say anything else.
As you should know when the heat around here goes up everybody stays at home, if they do not have to work, well today I was bored and told my wife that I was gong out to hit a casinos for a little while. With the EDC in town most casinos are packed, but I know of one where we would find an empty table.
So as I start to take off I decide to give a call to one of the local DI's that just moved in around the bock from me. We hit the casino and as I thought there was nobody there,... we were there for under an hour and both made a nice profit. That is the nice thing about living around Vegas if you know the lay of the land, you can always find tables that will not have anybody on them if you play at the right time of the day!
If you find a sweat joint, you just don't go back there! If you find a dealer that wants to give you a hard time and the other dealers won't take care of the problem, you just don't hit that casino when he is dealing.
Some dealers are having a bad day and will take it out on the players, some are just angry at the world and the stupid job they are in, they see all of that money hitting the tables and they become bitter over time!
Again I would show you but it seems like you don't want that to happen!
tdv, you are exasperating sometimes...why do you persist in generalizing things that are simply one-offs, things specific to individual, often unique happenings...why do you "read into things" stuff that's just not there: superrick said nothing about the guy's "sole purpose" yet you come back with that straw man...he clearly indicated that the guy got fired for his style, just the opposite of management approval, yet you come back with a straw man query about his actions being some kind of management policy and that, why, you just dont believe it...duh...
you constantly generalize stories here as having some kind of wide applications when in fact they are just something that happened one time...everybody is different...every stick is different , every box is different...every suit is different...i have been at thousands of bank craps sessions and ---like a baseball game---no 2 are alike...
peoples arent always making some kind of general statement here when they post something that happened (or, yes, you are right: didnt happen) but you like to "read into" them some kind of statement...tom "home runs are sometimes boring" p
-g. geist: you tryin' to stir the pot?
--tom p: yep
You didn't answer geist.
Missed it, still watching the golf, having a cold MGD, and a $5 cigar, and "trolling" this site....multi-tasking is not what the brain was designed for.
I made DT offers of going to diffident casinos with him, if he wants to see something I would show it to him, I stop going out with anybody that I do not know, but would make a exception in his case. I'm the one that is putting myself at risk, I don't want any casino personnel knowing who I am, most players would understand that.
I once made a mistake of going to some casinos with someone and that was a big mistake on my part,..no that person didn't have anything to do with the casinos, but I just didn't feel comfortable after meeting him. There isn't one person on this board that has ever met TD, so I think most would understand my apprehension of meeting anybody out of the blue!
That is why I've asked him for his phone number, to set something up, so far it looks like that will never happen!
For what purpose Rick? We've been thru this. You're not teaching me anything. DI cannot be demonstrated in a session. If I want to question the veracity of reports like I was told at Ballys---I'll go there myself and disprove them. If you tell me they hassle DI or setters at South Pointe, I'll go myself and witness it.
What exactly is the purpose to meet? You want to show me you are hassled?
Your good friend Harley was posting member pictures, Facebook accounts and names on an open forum. Excuse my hesitancy.
TD you are not too socialable! Rick wants to talk to you and you hide in your bunker. What is the big deal. I have talked with SR - what is the big deal?
Hey look, all I'm trying to do is find the truth. If I hear someone say DI and dice setters have been banned from a strip casino or casinos...my interest is peaked. I'm skeptical, totally skeptical of these claims of "heat" (again, generalizations, not specifics) for craps players. I could care less about the "incident" someone experienced because that can't be investigated but a hard claim like Dave made? I'm there. Low and behold, the story was bogus from my perspective.
I'm a detail oriented guy who wants to know the specifics, but you are right. These generalizations are what they are..anecdotel stories that cannot be confirmed or denied.
So, the next time Dave reports on a mickey mouse casino banning his ability to set and throw mechanically...I'm there. If you aren't interested..que sera.
My next stop is the South Point. I'll report what Rick claims to be a hassling environment for dice setters and mechanical throwers. I don't need a sidekick to satisfy my own curiosity. If there is an attitude that this can only apply to certain shifts, certain employees and might be a once a month occurrence...then I am wasting my time. I'm looking for more of a wide spread, company type policy which seems to be the claim.
I know you do a great job investigating . But living in LV I find it baffling why you have never got together with any board members who go to play there. You are there all the time.
I don't need a crew, Dave. One of the worst stereotypes for people who live in Vegas is that they enjoy going to the Strip--partying it up, gambling with every visitor that comes to town. It's a big misconception. Most who live here rarely go to the strip. My visit yesterday was an anomaly and done to see about Bally's and Paris. Frankly, too many wearing white socks with their birkenstocks and a "I'm with Stupid" t-shirt walking around. I've done the tourist thing many times over. I go maybe 3 times a year to see what is new or see a show.
I think most serious craps players prefer to play on their own. If it's not going well, you leave when you want---10 minutes in or 3 hours later. I'm not on a junket with friends.
I play, but it's low stakes. It's a game for entertainment---not profit. If OnAutopilot came into town, I would much prefer a day on the golf course than a day in the casino. I would much prefer a hike at RedRock, Valley of Fire, lunch in Boulder City (no gaming).
You're exactly right on all scores, TD. The reason for the Birkenstocks and "Stupid" T-shirts right now might be the extra 400,000 in town for the Electric Daisy Carnival, which seems to be even bigger than the Rock in Rio thing a couple of weeks ago. Second, the supposed heat for dice manipulators is probably nothing more than taking too much time to set or failing to hit the wall.
At any rate, all the anecdotes, as you so ably found out just by checking, are just like all those stories about biased dice and magnets and jigglers under the felt. People have to look for any excuse when they're losing. When they're winning, it's all because of their intellectual brilliance and physical skills.
Exactly right Sancho. When I lose, lately more frequently than I would like, it is always someone else's fault. Either the shitty shooters or the chattering stick. Couldn't be me or the randomness of the game.
When I win, I'd like to think it's because of my brilliant play.
Trouble is, since the results are right about at 50:50 sessions wise, these things are constantly changing.
Yep, I carry a "fault" list with me to check off what the fault or faults were on each losing session. I guess you could call it "fault charting". Relieves me of any responsibility, as none of my actions are listed in the fault list. It's amazing that on a 7 out, how many faults I can check off, if I have to, I can even make some up to fit the situation. Most of the faults involve other people, the inconsiderate ones that had the nerve to wander into my reality!
There was a guy the other day....
"every damn time this cocktail waitress brings a drink over, the shooter 7 outs!!""!!!
"tell her to take a hike"!!
She shook her head.
Ah, it's the dice; only the dice.
Did they take you into the backroom and threaten to break your kneecaps? Or, was it more like a kick in the ass on your way out the door?
