March Madness has begun! First upset of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Picked the hometown Ramblers in all of my brackets.

Well, there goes one of my March Madness brackets. Perennial NCAA Tournament underachiever Arizona loses another opening round game. Can't even blame this choke job on Lute Olsen.

Buffalo's guards just dominated. They are some tough hombres. Good luck against UK.

How about this big win by Ohio State

    upload_2018-3-16_8-5-21.png

Can't forget about the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championships, which are taking place in Cleveland, Ohio. After Thursday, Ohio State has a small lead over Penn State, which is the 2 time defending champ (and winners of 6 of the past 7 team titles). Note the number of Big Ten teams (6) currently in the top 12. Go Bucks!

Butler took an early 21-2 lead over Arkansas and then started taking bad shots. Arkansas kept at it and just took a 29-27 lead on a 3 point FG with about 3:30 left in the 1st half.

I didn't see any of the WSU-Marshall game, but great win for the Thundering Herd. In the other 13-4 "upset", Buffalo dominated. Their guards took it to Arizona.

Auburn will be very motivated, but not because of the earlier upsets. If the Tigers lose, the players will have to listen to Charles Barkley whine about it for the rest of their lives. Who wants to suffer that fate?

It was going to happen sooner or later -- a #16 seed beating a #1 seed. In 1989, Princeton came damn close, falling to #1 Georgetown 50, #16 Princeton 49 when a shot at the buzzer missed. Finally, a #16 beat a #1 -- no, make that dominated a #1. Not just any #1, but the #1 overall seed in the tournament. Take your well-deserved place in NCAA Tournament history, UMBC (U Must Be Cinderella) Retrievers.

March Madness is living up to its name. "Upsets" a plenty...

Can't forget this one, as Michigan State was a popular Final Four / National Champion pick. Syracuse had to win a play-in game on Wednesday against Arizona State to even make the main event, so the Orange are 3-0 thus far.

    Yeah seeds mean little

Every team has the same chance as their opponents to win any day of the week

Superstars or not, glad I don't bet more than 25 dollars on it

Enjoyable couple days watching the games! I believe it will get even better. :)

I still have some of my favorites in the mix, so I look forward to the next round.

I knew you were rooting for Ohio State, and I had some mixed emotions, I have always liked Gonzaga, for several reasons, and have to admit, I was leaning that direction. :)

It's all good. I love when March Madness lives up to its namesake. It's so boring when the top 4 seeds all advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

If Gonzaga wasn't playing Ohio State, I would have rooted for the Zags, too. They have a very solid program. I think I picked Gonzaga to beat OSU in all of my brackets, except perhaps one. The Buckeyes overachieved in basketball this season; they had a new coach and were picked to finish @11th (SI) in the conference.

At least the Buckeyes' wrestling team finished 2nd in the NCAA Wrestling championship this weekend. Penn State won (again).

Now I can start focusing on the 2018 College Football season.

The madness continues in the Sweet Sixteen games. Last night, former Illinois coach Bruce Weber -- who continues to have vocal detractors in Illinois (because he wasn't Bill Self, the coach he succeeded at the UofI) and Kansas (because he isn't Bill Self, the current head coach at in-state blue blood rival Kansas) -- led his team to an upset over John Calipari's latest roster of future NBA Lottery Picks. The 2017-18 edition of UK's "best team money can (allegedly) buy" couldn't make enough free throws (22-37) despite having 15 more attempts than the other Wildcats. After the game, Kentucky players refused to shake hands with KSU players. Now that Calipari has been booted from the NCAA Tournament, title of "biggest douchebag" remaining undoubtedly falls upon Duke's Grayson "The Tripper" Allen.

In another bracket buster, #9 Florida State upset 2017 NCAA runner-up Gonzaga, the #4 seed in this year's tournament. As a reward, the Noles get to play red-hot #3 Michigan, which steamrolled #7 Texas A&M 99-72. If this Elite Eight game was being played in September, it would be a battle of currently underachieving traditional football powerhouses.

The LUCkiest team remaining in the NCAA Tournament, #11 Loyola University Chicago, kept alive its hopes of cutting down the nets with a 69-68 win over #7 Nevada. The Ramblers haven't won the NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Tournament since 1963, also known as the pre-Wooden era. LUC has won 3 tournament games by a total of 4 points. Apparently a higher power is a fan. Next up in the Elite Eight is a game against Kansas State, with the winner being a most improbable Final Four team.
