I'm not yet conceding anything to Alabama this season. If you look at their schedule, who has the Crimson Tide played? Florida State in Game #1 was a 24-7 win on a "neutral" field in Atlanta, GA. That's it. The Tide (8-0) has only played 2 road games this season: a 59-0 win at Vanderbilt (3-4, 0-4) and a 27-19 victory at Texas A&M (5-2, 3-1). Non-conference home games were against Fresno State (5-2) and Colorado State (6-2), both non Power 5 teams. CSU lost to Bama 41-23, while Colorado beat its in-state rival 17-3. Washington beat Fresno State by about the same point differential as Alabama. Draw no conclusions by those comparisons, lol.

In Game #1, Noles QB (Deondre Francois) was knocked out of the game (season-ending injury). but at that point FSU special teams miscues had already sealed Florida State's fate. FSU suffered a blocked punt (Bama recovered at the FSU 6 and made a FG), blocked FG and a fumble on a kickoff (Bama recovered at the FSU 11 and scored a TD). The blocked FG happened after a key non-call (pass interference in the end zone) late in the 1st half forced FSU to attempt a FG instead of taking the lead.

    https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/9/2/16247930/alabama-fsu-pass-interference

Still, the score was only 10-7 'Bama at the half (instead of possibly 14-10 FSU). However, the egregious non-call (and subsequent blocked punt) completely changed the momentum heading into halftime.

Alabama has a road game at LSU this Saturday after having a bye (game against Tennessee) last week. I don't think LSU has enough offense to make things difficult for the Tide. Finally, there is the last game of the regular season at Auburn and possibly a game against (perhaps) undefeated Georgia in the SEC Championship. Both of those games could be very interesting.

Ohio State and Clemson have shown the blueprint for beating Alabama. Several elite skill players on offense, great offensive line play, and being able to throw the ball downfield. There are several teams that have the offense to give Alabama problems. The Tide just hasn't played any of those teams...yet.

It's happened at least 1x in the past. Wasn't it a few years ago when Georgia was expected to roll Florida and the Gators pulled off the upset? Should be a good game.

BTW, gotta love how the 2 programs can't agree on the total number of games played in the rivalry.

Jack Nicklaus -- greatest golfer in the history of the sport and Ohio State alum -- was the celebrity guest picker on ESPN's College Football Game Day.

He picked Georgia over Florida, TCU over at Iowa State, at Arizona State over USC, at Notre Dame over NC State, and at Ohio State over Penn State (not even waiting for him to make the pick before I credit him with picking the Buckeyes). Oh crap, Desmond Howard and Coach Corso also picked Ohio State.

Nicklaus (when asked about his pick in the Ohio State - Penn State game): "You gotta be kidding me (laughing)."

    Go Bucks!

I turned it off several times and went to other games, didn't give them a chance. I knew you were probably hitting you head on a few of those plays. I couldn't believe they short kicked on that last touchdown kick-off. I figured they worked their butt off to get back in the game, then gave it right back with Penn. State, kicking a field goal in the last second to win it.

Crazy game. I think Penn is still wondering what the hell happened. :)

Lol, in the first half after Penn State scored to go up 21-3, I jokingly told my wife she was jinxing the Buckeyes and should leave the house. She took me up on the offer...and look what happened, lol. :D

    Lol, nah, not me.

My wife is awesome. She knows I can be quite, uh, vocal when my teams aren't playing up to their capabilities. The first half of the game, I probably sounded like a few of the posts on this forum, only with more choice words and ALL CAPS. :D

Nice comeback by the Buckeyes. We had a TV outside during our granddaughter birthday party, so I couldn't focus on the game but that was one impressive come back. As you know ASU lost. Now UofA controls their own destiny. They play USC next game. I don't like Uofa. I think you know that. Bear down is what I do when I a crap

I hear you. I sometimes can't contain myself at home and get reminded that there are kids in the house. Also at Dback and Cardinals games I get reminded to quit cussing.
My family thinks I'm crazy because I yell at the TV or talk to the announcers like they can hear me

The Buckeyes finally quit being their own worst enemy and played just well enough to beat a very good team. It was so frustrating watching the game, as the Buckeyes' offense -- when it wasn't turning the ball over or dropping passes -- kept sabotaging drives with penalties. The special teams kickoff coverage remains a disaster. Ohio State should just the ball out of bounds and let the opposing team take possession at the 35 yard line. Lots to work on, but in the end a 1 point win over the #2 team puts the Buckeyes firmly in the driver's seat for a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game, presumably against currently undefeated Wisconsin.

I watched part of the ASU-USC game and the Trojans actually looked pretty good. Unfortunately, I think ASU took a step backward. But there's still time for the Sun Devils to get things figured out before the game against the UofA.

Stanford played without start RB Bryce Love, the nation's leading rusher, but there is no way the Cardinal should have had to score a TD with 20 seconds remaining to beat a woeful Oregon State team. The Beavers, whose lone win this season was 35-32 over FCS Portland State, had given up at least 32 points in every other game but held the Cardinal to less than half that amount.

Apparently, South Florida didn't get the memo. Every ranked team that scored exactly 24 points won their game -- except USF.
