    It has been over 100 years since the Cubs- have won the World Series.Let' s hope we do not see these bums for another 100 years.Have not shown up for their fans and cannot hit a breaking ball especially those out of the strike zone.Hey they can beat up on lousy teams.Let us all hold up granting sainthood to that " no field wonder" Swarber.Has 0 place in the N L.
    A- Rod offering. great insights into the game.Rose there for " off the wall comments- Big Hurt keeps it going.
    But enough of these " bums"who are pulling a Mets World Series from last year effort.

    YC.....I must assume your Dad was/is a great guy.

    I try to live by the words of a former President of the NRA and oscar award winner; he said:..." Do your best and keep your promises.".. Everybody has a good side and a bad side. This is the only craps forum I visit /am on.....it has a good format....the moderator is hands off and reasonable....and the people here are pretty decent...... I wouldn't mind shooting dice with any of them.

    RE: the Cubs....don't give up.......remember the Trumpster was on the ropes but he kept fighting and working and kept up the spirit of his troops with his resolve..He now has a decent chance.

    I have this poem on my desk....

    When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

    When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
    When the funds are low and the debts are high,
    And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
    When care is pressing you down a bit-
    Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
    Life is queer with its twists and turns,

    As every one of us sometimes learns,
    And many a fellow turns about
    When he might have won had he stuck it out.
    Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
    You may succeed with another blow.
    Often the goal is nearer than

    It seems to a faint and faltering man;
    Often the struggler has given up
    Whe he might have captured the victor's cup;
    And he learned too late when the night came down,
    How close he was to the golden crown.
    Success is failure turned inside out -

    The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
    And you never can tell how close you are,
    It might be near when it seems afar;
    So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
    It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

    Game 5: at Chicago Cubs 3, Cleveland Indians 2

    upload_2016-10-30_23-36-6.png

    Chicago Cubs finally managed to string together several hits that resulted in a 3 run 4th inning and held on a 3-2 victory in Game 5. Closer Aroldis Chapman got the final 8 outs as the Cubs staved off elimination. The Indians still lead 3-2, with Game 6 on Tuesday night in Cleveland.

    perspicacious - good one, 7s!

    the logophobic would hava tough time on this forum, eh?
    for 62 years, all of my life to that point, i was happy even given & despite the usual, bummer circumstances one after another that are bound up in life...

    since a brutal loss seven years ago, i have not been happy, nor, sadly, do i even foresee its possibility, and time after time bad circumstances have prevailed...in short i am clinically depressed.

    the shrinks have this 500, maybe it's close to 600, question inquiry...iianm i have taken this lengthy examination three times, twice at least...about every 8th question or so, differently and often cleverly worded is, "do you ever feel like killing yourself?"...happily and truthfully and unlike many of the other leading questions, my answer to this one is always, "no"....scarily i am lead to believe that my answer is less common than for many of their patients...

    7's poem hits the nail on the head...whenever i am seriously down and quite frankly often for rational, good reason, the high & inside hard one actually does smash into my helmet, i have taken to telling myself, "tomorrow, next week, next month are other days...things will work out, things will be better"...

    ...and they always are.

    You know BTL....I'm sure we all have been hit hard and in the dumps. ....but we can't have a permanent solution to a temporary problem. A chance meeting of somebody special....a belly laugh....a great golf shot....a cold beer on a really hot day.....a great memory....a beautiful sunset.....a shattering orgasm......are all things that can be around the corner, we would miss, and might be waiting for us the next day.....I would guess many of us, in our lifetime, has thought briefly about suicide....but it surly isn't a thought that dominates..Your outlook , as stated in your last paragraph, is great and the only thing that keeps us going. You're only licked when you quit trying.

    BTW....I predict something good will happen to you, somewhat expected, in about 3 weeks..........and you know I am rarely wrong.

    Still holding out hope the Cubs can pull this off...
    But I concede Cleveland "looks hungrier".

    I expected Cleveland to tie that game up after it went from 3-1 to 3-2. They had chances.

    Game 6: Chicago Cubs 9, at Cleveland Indians 3

    upload_2016-11-2_8-16-45.png

    Chicago hitters took advantage of multiple hanging curveballs over the middle of the plate by starting pitcher Josh Tomlin to win 9-3 and force a deciding Game 7 on Wednesday. Cleveland right fielder Lonnie Chisenhall -- who apparently believes he is in the Navy ("Outfield -- it's not just a job, it's an adventure") -- added to his legacy of suspect fielding during the playoffs by misplaying a relatively easy fly ball in the first inning, allowing 2 additional runs to score. In fairness to Chisenhall, rookie center fielder Tyler Naquin needed to take charge and call off his teammate. Still, the RF has no business cutting in front of the CF and then bailing on the play. Hopefully the Tribe will not experience any more incidents of Bad News Bears fielding in Game 7.

    If anything, God should be mad at Chicago. There's so much corruption in the local governments, even politicians in Louisiana are envious. And don't forget -- your favorite presidential candidate was born in Chicago.

    Kluber (and Shaw, Miller, and Allen) for the win!!
